DAZN promo when Eddie made the change , got promised bigger budget which sky couldn’t provide with much better cards than he can now put on which he couldn’t on Sky. Any idea when he is going to start? I don’t see any change if anything it’s worse than before dazn times!
As both the promoter of a stable, and the exclusive provider of boxing media content to a platform, as he was with Sky, you need to translate what you said to what Hearn actually means. There are cards he couldn't put on Sky because he promised the boxers too much money, after artificially inflating their status and egos. He knew Sky wouldn't pay as it would affect their other sports budgets in the end. DAZN has no other sports in the UK so took his gamble.
I always hoped Amazon would throw their hat in the ring with boxing, they've done it with Premier League football, Rugby and Tennis and have plenty of money behind them. Dazn in the UK is a bit pony, I was expecting better.
Amazon Prime doesn’t dabble in sport, it makes calculated investments towards maintaining or growing its Prime membership base in each country. Whether it’s occasional football (timed around the high points of Prime subscriptions expiring, just around Christmas) or the Grand Tour, there’s generally a 3:1 ratio on investment to additional subscription revenue generated. Is the boxing audience of any value to them?
That would mean huge fights which are usually on ppv. Amazon won't put up the purses which ppv generates as prime subscriptions wouldn't cover the costs
Ive cancelled my subscription wity Dazn. Just dont have that many boxers im particularly interested in, non-competitive main events and they will soon charge for ppv makes it a easy decision.
I was at a wedding yesterday and speaking to a young teenager (16 years old). He's not really a boxing fan (just watches the big shows) and he said he knows Boxxer is now with Sky Sports. I asked him whether he knows where Eddie Hearn shows (Matchroom) are now televised, and he said he doesn't know. I asked him if he knows what DAZN is, and he said he knows it's a streaming platform, but thought it was only in the US and not in the UK. More people probably watched the Boxxer card yesterday over the Conor Benn fight on DAZN.
Exactly the same, much more interested in competitive domestic fights. I'm too old to stay up until 6am watching fights unless it's a potential 'fight of the ages' classic which are extremely rare.
He underestimated just how big the Sky machine is. Grass ain’t always greener Eddie. Also, what the hell happened Maya Jama?
Everyone could see that Maya Jama was just there for the lolz, the Gram and the banter. Her inability to take the job seriously was probably what put DAZN off. Laura Woods is decent but she's fackin everywhere thesedays.
I just don't understand if you're enough of a boxing fan to post on a boxing forum, but you don't have Dazn. It's makes literally no sense to me. GGG, Conor Benn, Katie Taylor, Liam Smith, Canelo fighting within a 1 month period for 8 quid. That's fantastic value. I spend 10 quid on 2 pints in an hour at the pub lol.
