Could have Ingo's right hand Bingo decked iron jawed George Chuvalo? George has never been knocked off of his feet in his entire career, he has faced heavy fisted fighters like Joe Frazier, Jerry Quarry and George Foreman without leaving his feet. Ingo's Bingo is quite a wallop, but can Chuvalo take it?

    Easily.

Ingo hit very hard, but there is no good evidence he hit as hard as Foreman.

It's possible, Ingo hit like a mule kicked. But Chuvalo, I don't see him going out to just one punch. It would have to be a accumulated load of hard shots.
I'll say the chances are it's a points win for the lad from Sweden.

No a tough rugged brawler like Brian London, who was a class below Chuvalo went the distance with Johansson. And not only did London go the distance, he damn near knocked Johansson in the last round. So not only do i think Chuvalo would survive Johansson's punches, i think he would actually stop him aswell.

Reporter: What did you think of the punching power of Johanson...?

Chuvalo: Nothing noteworthy. He was real sneaky with how he set up the right hand tho.

Ingo is unable to put a dent in Chuvalo and possibly even drops the decision or gets stopped late. Kind of a bad matchup, Chuvalo would be all over him all night tearing away at his body and winning points on aggression. Ingo preferred to slow the pace down and Chuvalo wouldn't allow it.

Your best chance at knocking Chuvalo down legitimately would be someone sneaky with top tier power and some speedy hands, Tyson is my pick not far behind is Louis.

I think the success of Ingos right hand, whilst being a natural punch, still depended on him being in his absolute inch perfect prime for it to work the way it did on the best fighters. It really was a sure fire match winner. But it really had to be an inch perfect punch.

The fact that the very best two heavyweights in the world were knocked out in back to back fights shows that these fights happened at just the right career timing for Ingo.

earlier fights and later fights show that the “Thor’s hammer” or “Ingos bingo” was not where it was when he met Floyd and Machen.

Without that timing it was just a good heavy punch.

Whereas when he hit Floyd and Machen with it, two guys in their prime and both yet to be knocked out in their pro careers, he nearly put them through the canvas with the first knockdowns. They both went over the exact same way. Flat. He was able to set it up in such a way that it landed blind. It was if the thing landed blind.

you have to say, at that point of his career, anyone Ingo clipped just right was going to go. And that includes Chuvalo.

but the stars would have to line up just so.

Your opinion is highly respected, but when Ingo fought Brian London that was 5 years from when Ingo flattened Eddie Machen on Sept 14 1958. Ingo after two crushing kayo losses to Floyd Patterson in 1960 and 1961. Let's just say for argument sake that Chuvalo had taken an Ingo Bingo in 1958?

Thanks. I think that’s about the best I can explain it. Technically it was a clever punch..and it had power. The combination of a heavy handed fighter using technical timing.

Foreman wasn't done with Chuvalo when the ref stepped in to stop it. Chuvalo was covering up on his way to being helpless. Had the ref allowed the fight to continue, Chuvalo eventually would have gone down. At that point in his career, Chuvalo was even more interested in preserving his tough-guy image of not having been knocked down than in going all out to win a fight.

That said, Chuvalo was a tough guy who had more trouble with boxers than punchers. Ingo could box some, but as we saw in the Patterson fights, he could be hit with a left hook. Chuvalo's best punch was a left hook. I don't see Johansson being able to avoid that hook for a full fight. So, it's Ingo's right versus Chuvalo's left. I give an edge to Chuvalo. He's tougher than Ingo. But it is not inconceivable that Ingo's bingo could set George up for a knockdown.

George Chuvalo was never knocked down, in his Professional Career, Amateur Career, or even in sparring and gym wars. I can't pick Johansson to be the 1st to accomplish that. So my answer has to be no.
