The issue is Paulie clearly had something against Pac, and I think the PED accusation was just his goto, because he figured it was probably true. But that created an issue when basically everyone knew welter was ped riddled as a whole. And not just welter. I don't believe for one second Paulie was oblivious about the likes of Floyd and JMM. They just were against his narrative
Malignaggi is arguably one of the more principled guys based on the fact he didn't capitulate to certain lib agendas and lost his job because of it, so he's at least more of a straight shooter than most worms in the media business. He has a blind spot with Mayweather, which is a shame, but perhaps he has a different opinion these days. The reality is that Pac simply carried too much power and stamina up through the weight classes to be believable, just like Canelo. Pac basically punched harder than everyone he was in with, even at 147, where all were far bigger men. It's absolutely beyond belief. Malignaggi only went up one weight class and experienced the difference. He stopped the 'chenko guy with a death by a thousand cuts, it wasn't some exhibition of power, it was a flesh wound on the eye that just closed due to jabs. So I don't find it hard to believe that Malignaggi was clean. He was basically at 147 in the end because he gets fat and struggled to make the old weight. And he suffered for it, look at all the guys who stopped him up there. Meanwhile, Pac just cruises up countless weight classes with no defence and barely gets hurt while hurting everyone else.
You're the one having trouble contemplating the fact that Paulie held an extremely personal grudge against Pac that went on for years and years and that Paulie only selectively focused on Pac. And your anti-Pac agenda is the reason why you see no irony in Paulie ranting endlessly about Pac and PEDs while seeking the services of a known PED expert and staying quiet about Floyd's IV use, ultra low T/E ratios, late fight announcements, etc..
Bruh... Pac had 2 KOs in over a decade when he climbed to 147. Miguel Cotto, who Pac threw everything and the kitchen sink at and couldn't get him out of there and the fight was mercifully stopped by Bayless, but could have easily gone 12, and Lucas Matthysse, a natural 140 pounder. Pac was a hard puncher, but mostly it was accumulation, angles, unpredictability, and speed. Even then he couldn't wear guys down to the point where they're hurt, retreating, and finished off. Crawford couldn't stop Postol or Ricky Burns, but stopped everyone he's fought at 147.
My problem with Paulie is his inconsistency. He doesn't go at others about PEDs like he does at Manny.
Paulie’s a stupid ****. So because he predicted that Cotto would be too strong for Pacquiao, Pacquiao was juicing, because a guy coming up in weight can never be stronger than guys in the weight above (which is also very stupid and wrong). I predicted Pacquiao would beat Cotto, confidently too. So w/e means of winning I saw were there before the fight.
lol Pac fans are hilarious. They get their panties all in a bunch when someone accuses Pac of juicing but are willing to swear that Marquez was juicing in their fourth fight even though he never tested positive.
No issue w/ Paulie or anyone thinking Pac was using. The issue is Paulie zoned in on Pac and was relentless with his accusations for years while having blind spots for every other figure in the sport. Same thing w/ the boxing world in general — most turned a blind eye to Floyd's ultra low T/E ratios and illegal IV use. Not that difficult to comprehend.
Pacs volume is what surprised me the most when you go up in weight you will throw less because you're carrying more weight. He was throwing so many punches with power that it was unreal. I think he was on epo that gives you unlimited stamina
Paulie tells the truth as he sees it. He is a good analyst and I hope someday, after another 50 years in the business being open and honest about boxing issues, that he gets into the Boxing HOF as a credit to the sport.
I don't think Paulie is principled so much as he had no filter or a very selective one and he zoned in on a single target. Principled would be if he had relentlessy dug in on Floyd as he did Pac, but of course, he never touched that topic.
