You obviously never saw Margarito fight. Both Oscar & Floyd bragged they wanted the winner of Marg/Cotto till they saw what Tony did to Cotto LOL Oscar foolishly picked on little Pac instead & KARMA took care of him LOL If you remember Floyd "retired" again so he didn't have to meet the MAN he was terrified of

WW is such a deep division historically, if you look at a list of great WWs you can go way past 10 and think "oh I forgot about him, he'd be difficult for Spence" and "that guy's a rough night for anyone." It's not even clear he's #1 H2H right now. Specifically I think anyone with spectacular power in their right hand would be very dangerous for him.

I usually don't like this philosophy but I think he needs to show what he can do at a higher weight class to solidify his legacy. Beating the Charlo/Castaño winner would really elevate his status and I think he might do it, especially if it's Charlo.

We were discussing the matchup of Spence vs Margarito, and somehow, somehow, you turned the conversation back to Floyd.

The only welterweights with "spectacular" right hand power are probably Hearns and Robinson and I already admitted he'd lose to them.

2+2=3? Garcia was moving up a couple of weight classes and was puny next to Errol. If Errol enjoys "wicked power" at 147 he should have just ignored Garcia, closed and KHTFO within a couple of rounds. He won by wiiiiiide decision. People give him props for that. He is not "underrated".

Not sure I'm astute enough to name 10 guys to put ahead of him atm. Spence's career requires context as he is not overwhelmingly great. Ask me in 2032-42 what I think of Spence and I will enjoy the benefits of obvious context.

Just gonna make a quick rundown of how I think he'd do against fighters from 2000 on. Except SRL and Hearns. I feel I've seen enough of them to comment.

    Prime Pac
    Prime May
    Prime SRL
    Prime Hearns
    Prime Hoya
    Prime Trinidad

I would absolutely pick over Spence, 100%.

    - Damn good fights that I could see going either way...

    Prime Forrest

    - Favoring Spence in competitive fights

    Mosley
    Ike
    Margarito
    Cotto
    Mayorga
    Spinks
    Williams

    - Easier matchups
    Judah
    Hatton
    Clottey

Outside srl n hearns, I don't know enough about pre 2000's welters to comment much on them.

You must have missed when the slow, flay footed, wide open target known as Shawn Porter almost beat Spence.

Margarito beats Spence like he beat Cotto.

I would favour Spence over Margarito. But just in the last 25 years, there are over half a dozen guys who could easily be favoured over him including one active guy, and we’re talking about arguably the deepest division in the history of the sport.

Top10 H2H of all times? Might as well right “IDKSAB” under the username.

I’m sure in 1945 they were making the same claims about Billy Arnold.

    Anyone heard of him?Exactly.

There were several people who had written Spence off after the accident and thought Danny would beat him up. Yet he completely outclassed him. Danny at the time was still a top 5 welterweight and Spence had just recovered from a car crash with no tune ups. Hence an underrated performance since a bunch of people changed their tune and didn't want to give him props.

This post is even worse than the last one.

Porter was absolutely not slow, wide open, or flat footed. He used plenty of angles, head movement, and applied smart pressure. You didn't watch the fight. You're being nostalgic and biased.

Who are these half a dozen guys who would "easily" beat Spence in the last 25 years? I'm still waiting.

“Could easily be favoured over”, not “easily beat”.

    Terence Crawford
    Oscar de la Hoya
    Shane Mosley
    Floyd Mayweather
    Mannı Pacquaio
    Felix Trinidad
    Vernon Forest

Right. Shawn had the perfect gameplan to beat Spence.
