I am 50/50. If you think about it, there really isn't much more for him to do. Usyk and Joshua have not even signed their rematch yet, so He's going to have a good, long wait. Joshua is damaged goods regardless, and Fury doesn't think there is a lot of money in an Usyk fight.

Hard to think of another big money opponent. Ruiz? Pretty disgraced. Parker is his buddy. And Fury fights for money, so no big name mean no reason to fight.

He has talked about a Ngannou match, and if they pay him for that low-bar novelty act, and then come up with big money for Usyk after that, I can see him sticking around for a couple more. Maybe in that scenario, Joshua does something to revitalize himself and it becomes three more fights.

I just don't don't see him sticking around to fight Ruiz, Joyce, a thrice-beaten Joshua, etc.

Not without fighting AJ/Usyk 2 winner.

Was yet another thread on this subject essential?

I can understand Joe Casual being taken in by the retirement talk, but hardcore boxing fans probably shouldn't be this credulous.

The answer is no, no and a big, fat, categorical no. Even if he pretends to for a while.

Do you have to enter the thread and complain? And on top of it, you answered, so I guess you really did need another thread on the subject.

    Physician, heal thyself.

    Thanks for the answer.

If anything, I worry that Fury's later career will turn out rather depressing for boxing fans. Imagine Fury fighting on, and on, and on like Holyfield, Toney, Tyson, or Ali -- long past the time when the magic is gone. Every time promising that he's pulled himself together this time, recaptured the magic, etc. Eventually, we'll hear him trash talking with a new slurring to his words.

I hope it doesn't happen. But really, he seems like a guy who will always need money and attention. And his commitment to keeping fit hasn't been high even in his prime.

Fingers crossed he retires on time...preferably after fighting whoever holds the remaining belts.

The chances of this being the last fight on Fury's record is in my opinion, less than 10%.

    I believe the only prior comment I have made on the latest round of Fury retirement talk was this one;

I answered your thread not to register complaint so much as express bewilderment that this topic continues to have legs for multiple threads.

And yet you answered, and here you are making a second post. It seems that there is some cognitive dissonance going on. really you are fascinated by this topic. Your lashing out against it is really a scolding of yourself.

    Good luck to you.

It's hard to see him not fighting the winner of Usyk/Big Joshie. But it's possible.
It's also possible he doesn't want pressure of mandos and so on and just retires until that fight becomes available.
If that happens it could backfire though, because with the belt floating around, Usyk/Big Joshie might go after a unification for that other belt first and also age Fury or wait for him to get obese/mental etc.
He might be compromised by the time that fight is on the table or even just unwilling to comeback.

Oh, wait. You unironically think the number of times I post in your thread in some way undermines my initial comment? Could be I overcredited you. Have a fourth. :eaea:

Yup. You keep returning to a thread you you have declared worthless...after commenting on it in the first place.

    Thank you again.

That someone took the time to declare something worthless (not my exact choice of word, but, whatever) does not automatically confer worth to that something. I'd expect a grown male to know this.

If you hadn't noticed, we haven't really been discussing your thread or its subject for the last two rounds of this exchange. We've been talking about you being silly (unironically so, it appears).

But you declared it worthless, commented on it anyway, and have returned four times for five posts in an utterly useless thread.

Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
