If the reports of the ticket sales are true, then that’s staggering to me. Tyson must have gained huge popularity from the casuals after the exciting Wilder trilogy and the downfall of AJ. A few years ago, the casuals liked Tyson’s persona and his antics, but found his style pretty boring. They found his interviews more interesting than his fights. He never had a huge fan base. Only a small, hard core one, and the obvious support of the travelling community. AJ was much more aesthetically pleasing with a more exciting style. Dillian has always been respected but has never had a big profile or a big fan base. This is just a mandatory defence with THE WORST undercard that I’ve ever seen. To me personally, this isn’t a big fight at all. Again, if the ticket sales are legit, I’m absolutely shocked how this has caught fire.
People want to be entertained Everyone wants to go to a big event (90% casuals) Tickets are not that expensive UK boxing marketing is leagues ahead of American marketing. For instance, Brook-Khan would have been on an undercard somewhere in America. In the UK they sold out and made more than £10,000,000 between themselves.
I just think people have been starved of decent heavyweight action on home soil. It doesn't suprise me too much I agree regarding Tyson's fighting style being less exciting pre Wilder trilogy. I think it's his personality that sells especially compared to someone like Joshua who comes accross as corperate with his meaningless soundbites having said that he's never in a dull fight.
I forgot all about that one but to be fair that wasn't all Joshua's fault. Martin just wasn't as advertised.
It's clearly a big event and as boxing fans it's great to see different promoters/fighters selling out Wembley and putting the spotlight on the sport. From talking to people though I don't think its broken out significantly beyond the more dedicated sports fans. Talksport and BT have hammered it obviously and the latter are smart promoters, but it didn't make much of an impact elsewhere, maybe the last few days that's changed somewhat as the event nears and there's at least an appearance from Whyte to talk about. I think it will do ok, but suspect they will look back at the PPV numbers and think it could've been bigger.
I would have to say no. I’ve heard very little about this fight at all during the build up. On the general news the first time they have talked about this fight was this morning, the day before the fight.
Yeah bro this fight is massive. 94,000 will be in attendance and everyone is buzzing about it. Even the open workout had about 2,000 people there gathering to get a glimpse of Fury. Probably gonna be the biggest fight in the history of Britain.
£24 for no exciting undercard in these stretched financial times is a big ask IMO...Warren may have let his feud with Hearn take over his financial side of the brain...although thinking about it Arums involved so scrub that muttering lol...
At least you don’t live in the UK. I have to get up at 3 a.m every time there’s a Canelo fight or any other big Vegas ppv.
Well not sure if you've noticed but some poor sods have to go to food banks with their children , pensioners are riding the free busses to keep warm as they cannot afford to heat or eat ...guess your up there Mr successful or Mr Selfish ?...
Who the flip spends £24 on pizza! That’s the biggest waste of money I’ve ever heard of! I would never spend more than £15 on a pizza
