Tyson Fury blew my expectations away last night. It was by far the greatest performance of his career and after watching it I’m confident in saying he would fair really well against guys like Big George Foreman, Joe Frazier and even the great Muhammad Ali. But how do you think he would fair in this era?
I’m not making a solid prediction but I think we’d have to give him a good chance at being one of the top players.
He'd do well in any era. The 2nd fight with Wilder was peak performance. Last night was not unexpected. Massive favoured to win. All knew he was levels above guy last night.
Yes but Whyte has never been dominated like that. Even Joshua struggled with him. Also fury had never scored a one punch KO before and last night he completely dominated him for 6 rounds and then KO’d him with one punch.
Blew you away really ? No offense to you. And I'm not trying to sound hostile. But I thought it was a rubbish fight. Whyte was so slow and sloppy, it looked like he was fighting underwater. Fury wasn't exactly setting the world alight either. The uppercut was a peach of a punch, but Joshua's done it an old Povetkin done it. And apart from that one moment in the fight, the fight was rubbish and forgettable. As I've said before I'm not a fan of Super Heavyweights now, I find them sloppy and boring. So maybe I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing, but these Heavyweights now don't really impress me much.
Joshua destroy him anyway, maybe a couple of rocky moments along the way. And very very very old man Alex Povetkin did knock him cold. Not big surprise Fury did even better. Fury's 2nd fight v. Dontay Wilder impressed more. for me.
He has NO Chance against Truly Great & TOP Fighters... his whole reign was a 'marketable' Protected Giant, Personality, 'Gypsy King' and all such Money Making HYPE. a 2cd Rate Fighter in a Subpar NEW Division against NO ONE of any serious threat. Marketing, Timing, Hand Picked Opponents and NO AJ!!! in Ali's time alone, along with Ali there was, Liston, Foley, Young, Cooper, Chuvalo, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Holmes, BUGNAR (better than ALL Fury's opponents), Spinks and others. to say nothing of a 100 years before and 20 years after, Tyson, Lewis and Co. He is NOTHING and has NO Place among any of them H2H or P4P... and that is why 'Achievement based ratings' are actually Completely MISLEADING, because they wrongly get translated into placement among REAL Greats. Sorry Fury, nothing personal about you, but a Subpar S-HW Division, against NO ONE and a complete Ducking of the ONLY Proof that would have at least gave you some semblance of credibility. Pathetic trying to pass this off as TOP Class Boxing. no fear, the REAL Fighters aren't rolling in their graves, the abysmal performances & careers are too obvious to deny.
He would do very well. The true great boxers would do well in any era. He most likely would of lost some and would of won some. I think Fury's mentality would of been perfect against the 70's boxers because I don't think Fury is scared of losing. If he lost, I think he would just rematch and most likely do a lot better in that rematch. He's a brilliant smart boxer. The best Heavyweight I've seen since Lennox and Lennox was special as well.
I wouldn't bet against Fury against any heavyweight in history. Not saying he's unbeatable and I'd likely favor several in history to outdo him, despite keeping my money in my pocket, at the bookmakers. He's a big problem; not easily solved.
Best skill boxer since Holmes among big men but 1970s there were 3 or 4 greats competing together. Fury can compete but not dominate.
No I agree I mean if you think about it and I've said this before. Some Heavyweights are like 4 or 5 weight classes apart in weight is that fair ? But the only downside I see is that for example look at Wilder, hes very tall but weight size he wouldn't be classed as a Super Heavyweight.
