If AJ defeats Usyk does Fury become yesterdays news among the public?

I don't think there is much way to dispute that the Gypsy king right now is the king of UK boxing. However when/if AJ fights Usyk beats him and becomes the 3 time champ is Fury all of a sudden an afterthought among the British public especially if he really is retired?

Would 2022 in Boxing go to AJ in this scenario?

If Joshua beats Usyk, legitimately, and not some dodgy decision, then it just makes Fury vs. Joshua an appealing and sellable fight again and I think there would be huge public demand for it in the UK. However, Usyk will beat Joshua again anyway and Fury vs. Usyk will be the fight in demand.

    No.

Fury will still be regarded as the #1 in the division (like he was before AJ v Usyk 1) and the public will demand that they fight for all the marbles.

No. Fury would still be looked upon, quite rightly,as the number one. Tyson-AJ would be in demand again but not as much as it was a couple of years ago

What makes Tyson the No.1 and not Usyk? I have both at No.1

The public seem to have no idea how good Usyk is, so no.

Is AJ Usyk actually gonna happen? there's been no news as of yet, plus UAE is 50 plus degrees in the summer so I don't see anything happening there until October maybe.

I've got a feeling that this fight will not happen I'm hoping I'm wrong but it just doesn't feel like it will.

    Similar to AJ Wilder...

It is in Saudi in July according to what Kugan said to Froch in an interview.

I don’t think so. I think that the public actually prefer Fury as a person now. Joshua isn’t particularly likeable imo and now this opinion is shared by the public.

If you think about it, when you're top of the sport, unbeaten and attracting huge crowds then you say you're retired, with every month of inactivity that passes the cost of how much it would take to 'convince' that fighter to come out of retirement just goes up and up.

He has a huge bargaining chip now by saying he's retired. Whoever fills that vacuum especially if it's Joshua will always get given the tag of not being the true number 1. Fury commanded around £32m for that fight against Whyte. Seriously, how much money would it cost someone to get him out of retirement in 12 months time? He holds all the cards more so now. I'll admit it's cynical of me to say but no matter what he comes up with I believe he really loves the wedge.
