Actually, I said that he is a bit better than remembered. I think you may have inferred, there.

That’s a bit harsh JT. I’d rate Fury some chance. :) Actually, how good would the pressers be? That’s where Cobb could be that bit more competitive - though the Gypsy King is no slouch in that dept. either.

Really? You can see him catching the bobbing and weaving Cobb on his way in and under for his customary brutal assaults on the opponents body? How will he deal with Cobb's brutal two fisted, power, speed and combination punching in close? I'm liking the finishing punch to be an epic leaping left hook from out of a crouch.

The pressers would be awesome and i can surely see them getting together later.

For sure, who ever ends up on their back at the end, it will definitely be a highlight reel, foot twitching KO.

Though it never came to the fore, I always felt that deep inside of Tex, there was a Sweet Pea begging to come out. Of course, Randall always put manliness before self preservation - but I see a match vs Fury bringing out the latent defensive genius that Cobb was and Fury maybe all at sea with that.

And also a safe bet that, at least prior to Tyson’s apparent and current abstinence, whatever the result, the Gypsy King and the Snort King would’ve got together and painted the town red, black and blue.

Great pals, like Jack Johnson and Stanley Ketchel.

Tex kept all those gifts inside purely to give his audience more bang for the buck.

Maybe if you took the version of Fury that weighed 400lb and hadn't had anything to do with boxing* for three years, Cobb could win by induced heart attack. I'd still bet Fury would be ahead on points before his ticker exploded though..

*not counting where he unboxed bulk pies from the factory.

I agree with what many others have said. I would expect to see the referee save Cobb at some point in a Fury - Cobb fight. (IMHO, of course.)

Tex would treat Fury like he did that dead horse.

Why did I think this thread was started 10 years ago?

No, Tex Cobb could never beat Tyson Fury.

He has to hold them in for the fight to save them for the bar afterward,
Haha this thread has been pretty entertaining though, I think of course there is always possibility like I said, but entirely agree that Cobb really never would win. There will be a lot of Fury thread coming up with his supposed retirement in hypothetical match-ups, I thought this would be a fun one. @JohnThomas1 has had me laughing with their responses, and all the coke jokes, the thread has not disappointed me. Cobb and Fury will be fighting for the title of The Snort King.

Well you said "he wasn't a Good fighter outside of his chin" that was mainly the part I picked up on. But I don't want to seem like I'm trying be an ass, and be picky and call you out on it. Just an observation I made which I disagree with slightly, if I can explain what I mean in detail.

For example a guy like Marion Wilson, is known for his chin. But he was nothing more than a journeyman fighter.

What I'm trying to say is Cobb retired with a 42-7 record, mixed it with some of the best. And gave them close competitive fights outside of the Holmes fight, and was ranked in the top 10. Hes got more than just a good chin, and must be good fighter to achieve that.
