Sonny Liston v Lennox Lewis in a street fight?

I am sure that Mike Tyson fought in the streets before boxing.

 

Yes it's well documented. Just because Lewis has no documentation of street fighting and may not have even engaged doesn't mean he can't let loose on the tiles.

Boxing at the very worst is a great base to have in a street fight particularly back in earlier days.

 

I was not a bar room brawler by any means, but one day this bigger kid in Junior High kept moving his jaws, woofing. I did not say a word or return any answer. When we got outside, he started reciting his past opponents that he beat up in street fights, he walked up to me, I kicked him between the legs as he was about to say another word, he bent down, I hit him with a right hand, he was out. His audience had to drag him away. I just whistled all the way home, never got in trouble for that fray, I was in the 8th grade. That mouthy person and his buddies never said another word to me again. It is like in the movie, The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. That man with a gun tells Tuco (Eli Wallach) he is going to kill him, Tuco shoots him, then tells him, When You Have To Shoot, Shoot, Don't Talk. My point, people who woof, do just that woof, words cannot harm anyone. My little fray was in 1972.

But yes the talkers usually can't back it up. Not all mind you, but almost all.

I still think Lewis would be dangerous tho.

 

And I was not even looking for a fight, I did my thing, others can do theirs. But that guy talked too much, a show off. If a person knows what he can do, there is no reason to boast, that spells Insecurity.

 

You think Lennox once was HW champion of the world would have a melt down in an American prison because he was a little gun shy with Mike Tyson? Lad...

It's really just fruitless speculation. Sonny beating up on random no hopers on the streets matters apparently I get the indication, he's willing to fight outside a ring so it's an "edge" but thinking Lennox Lewis, former HW champion of the world is going to be psyched out in a bare handed fight is hilarious especially when there are trashy hood kids in my neighbourhood scrapping with everybody that will have a go.

 

Not to promote or advertise road rage - but check the hands and shifting of stance by the older guy - definitely not his first rodeo and a good chance of some previous formal boxing training.

The story went that the younger guy initiated - and, as can be seen, the older guy finished it. Nice combo punching and assortment of shots.

This was in Australia and if you listen carefully, when the younger guy moves to approach again the older guy tells him to “F*ck Awfff!” LOL, true Aussie style:-

He showed that slag something, probably bet everything on the older boy being punked by his size. The big fella learned something, really it was a labour of love from the older fellow.

 

Like Glass City Cobra posted, in Prison it is another world. There is no one on one fighting. Gangs jump other prisoners, sometimes in the showers and yards. If let's say you are a professional boxer, you might get assaulted by others because you have money. You then have to pay other prisoners rent or get beat up. Rent could be in the form of money, cigarettes, or even smuggled in Drugs. We had a Doctor who killed another Doctor because he was jealous of him, he hired a hit man who eventually killed that Physician outside of his office. The hiring Physician and hit man were sentenced to life in prison. The inmates were always assaulting that physician every day, broke his cheekbone. The other cellmates made it known that they wanted rent because that murdering physician was wealthy. There is no James Scott boxing with other inmates. It is kill or be killed, or be a good wife to a cellmate.

 

I could not tell that Lewis was rattled vs. Tyson, why do you think this?
Also I understand that Lewis hurt his right hand during the bout, but tons of guys fail to finish guys in a timely manner for reasons other than fear-like Ali messing with an opponent.

 

There is PLENTY of one on ones, lots of guys are proud of there ability to scrap and love there rep. Some are in there because they beat there chest so often. Gang attacks happen, but a lot of prisons are boring, most guys don't even want to fight for the consequences they'll face and a VAST amount of self respecting street guys and career crims aren't just in there rap!ing people. It really varies but what you're describing is some mad max wasteland inside where you have to go in like a prison movie and fight Bubba on day one or be rap3d in the a$$. I'm not saying some of that stuff doesn't happen it does but it's not dealt in absolutes.

 

It honestly just looked like Lewis was playing with him and Manny was sick of it.
