I’m not trying to insult you. Since you’ve never had your hands in a pair of boxing gloves or been to a fight, I figured I could teach you a few things.

    You are a terrible poster.

He’s just produced an outstanding reply, full of LOGIC, with EVIDENCE, yet that’s all you can reply back with?

    Really?

    Serious question for you:

Do you actually watch the fights?

Can you not appreciate that styles make fights?

The evidence that you need has already happened:

    Canelo

    Maidana

In terms of skills, Canelo was levels above Maidana. Yet he couldn’t touch Floyd, where Floyd put on an absolute masterclass.

Yet just 8 months later, a crude B level Maidana who’d lost to guys Khan, gave Floyd absolute hell.

    Why?

    Because of STYLES

Because of how they matched up stylistically on the night.

Lay off of BoxRec and go educate yourself on the fighters in question.

You have Leonard and Hagler losing to Floyd based upon their stats.

    It’s cringeworthy.

Amateur hour, social media casual fan type logic.

    Please!

You couldn’t insult me if you tried.

These are recent statements made by yourself:

“Anything Leonard could do, Floyd could do better”

“Floyd would probably have beaten Hagler”

You debate on BoxRec stats, and you have zero knowledge on how to break down a fight.

You have no knowledge or understanding of how the fighters match up stylistically, even when surprise performances and results happen right in front of your very eyes.

It’s like you’ve been watching the sport for about month.

“Floyd would never have been troubled by that guy, as Floyd never lost, whereas that guy had x amount of losses”

It’s cringeworthy. And then the icing on the cake is when you label people as being biased, as they’ve said something that you don’t like.

    So you can’t insult me.

I mean you can, but not where it’s going to have an affect. And the reason for that is because I have zero respect for you as a poster.

Those aren’t quotes from me. Mods, could you edit his post for pretending to quote me?

    Get real.

The first two quotes were word for word what you’ve said on numerous threads within the last 6 months or so.

The third quote was was an example of how you debate.

    Great post.

If Floyd had never fought Maidana and you'd have suggested that Floyd would have been troubled by him, most of the guys on here would have wanted you sectioned.

It just annoys me when guys dismiss opponents based on skills and stats, without actually thinking logically and objectively at how they'd realistically have matched up on the night.

Not only that, there's been countless examples all throughout the history of the sport where a lesser skilled fighter has caused a better fighter huge issues, as well as having beaten them.

The examples of Hearns-Barkley and Forrest-Mayorga are great ones.

I really have to question the lack of knowledge on here sometimes here.

You and dynamic aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer. Floyd was 37 and way past it when he beat Maidana twice.

Just look at what Ray Leonard was doing at that age.

2 rounds to adjust to the wild sloppy punches then easy work.

Mayorga was clearly a better fighter at 147lbs than he was at 154lbs. Stronger, his power affected fighters more, and he took punches a whole lot better.

At 147lbs, Mayorga probably replicates Maidana's effort the first time and loses a competitive but clear decision. At 154lbs? He's getting washed.

"Way past it" yeah i'm sure Mayweather coming off one of his best victories over Canelo, and then going on to beat Manny Pacquiao. Two of the best P4P fighters of the last decade equals to being "way past it". Fighters who are "way past it" Don't shut out P4P greats like Canelo and Pacquiao, and then go on to 12-0 Andre Berto.

Maybe it's just styles make fights ? which is why Mayweather had more trouble against Maidana ? even though the names above are way more skilled than Maidana ? this is what people have been trying to explain for 4 pages, but you seem to have have trouble grasping that for some reason.

I don't even really see what i'm debating about, no one has said on this thread that Mayorga beats Mayweather. It's more directed at the people saying Mayweather "Dominates and stops Mayorga" which is a slight exaggeration. But i don't disagree that Mayweather wins of course he would but easily ? no i don't think so.

He was, my friend. He finessed those fights using skill, but his legs and power had vanished.

No double standards for the best fighter of the modern era.

Athletic decline yes i would agree, washed up as a fighter ? no i don't agree two different things. If Mayweather was washed up as a fighter, he wouldn't still be beating P4P greats and competing at a very high level.

I mean we've seen it over the years how older fighters like Hopkins, McCallum, Duran, all great technical fighters who have moved up in weight. Who may not quite have the speed or athleticism they once had. But they are still competing at a very high level.

It just don't make sense to label Mayweather as washed up vs Maidana, if he's beating the likes of Canelo and Pacquiao. That logic doesn't make sense because washed up fighters don't beat P4P greats.

ATG fighters often win big fights while being washed up and looking like a shell of their former selves.

You're probably right, I should've thought a little more before I posted, I'll change my answer to Floyd UD.
