Well clearly your version of "washed up" is different to mine. A boxer competing at the highest level who is ranked P4P number 1 beating P4P greats, is clearly not "washed up" in my view. I don't really know what you define as "washed up" but that certainly isn't my definition of it.

A example of washed up would be Roy Jones losing back to back KO losses to Tarver and Johnson.

Could you say Mayweather had athletically declined due to age and slowed down ? yes of course you could i've already pointed this out. But washed up ? no certainly not because of evidence of his wide victories over P4P greats Canelo, Pacquiao, say otherwise.

This is just nit picking for the sake of it, what is this discussion even about ? no one even disagrees that Mayweather would beat Mayorga. The only thing a few people have said myself included, is they don't necessarily think Mayweather would destroy or beat Mayorga easily. But no one disagrees with the outcome that Mayweather wins.

I mean does it really matter, if people think Mayweather wins after a some difficultly early on ? or if Mayweather wins comfortably by wide decision ? in the end we all agree on the outcome, so i don't really see why we have to keep going round circles. Nit picking about such small minor details, when in the end we all agree pretty much.

You think Mayweather was washed up, i don't but in the end who cares. We both agree on the outcome that Mayweather wins, so i don't feel like i have to say anymore on the matter.

Mayweather was every bit as past it for Maidana as Roy was for the Tarver rematch, probably more.

It’s about whether you can still compete at world level or not and Roy clearly couldn’t, the man got outboxed by Tarver in the 3rd fight and ko’d by Glenn Johnson while Floyd at that time frame beat Canelo, Pacquiao and Maidana, all world champions and highly rated at the time of beating them.

Yeah and he looked sluggish, slow and like **** in the first fight before he got savagely KO'd in the rematch. Clearly the same level of fighter Floyd was when he outboxed Canelo :hollering:

We’re talking about Floyd after he dropped back down a weight class like what’s his name. That’s post Canelo.

I recommend watching the rematch bc you don’t know what you’re talking about in spite of smug emoji usage.

Thank you how hard is it that hard to understand like seriously ? this is why i tend to not engage with this poster. You can't just agree to disagree and move on. You have to keep explaining yourself over and over, and yet you still never get anywhere and you end up being right back at square one. I've already gave valid points and explained it 3 times and said lets just move on. But no we have to keep going over and over it it's just nonsense. I'm not gonna waste anymore time and energy anymore on this so yeah i'm out. You guys can make up your own minds, on what you think of this but i think it's ridiculous personally.

Look kid, you're legit going around in circles, you're just arguing just to argue like a woman would do. Roy Jones got KTFO in the 2nd round in the rematch, this is literally the fight in its entirety right here.

Overall, what point are you trying to make exactly? You strike me as weird guy, we all already know Floyd is a great fighter, nobody denies that.

You sound a little perturbed, bro. Roy wasn’t shot for the Tarver rematch just because your hero got blasted with a counterpunch and Floyd wasn’t in the same form for Maidana, Pac, and Berto as he was for Canelo.

Both Flash and Dynamic have produced excellent, well thought out posts, which are full of logic, along with great evidence and examples.

They were both 100% right in what they said.

Lesser fighters can cause issues as well as even beat better fighters, based upon styles.

The very first thing that a fan of the sport learns, is that styles make fights.

I’ve been a fan since the late 80’s and I worked that out when I was about 9 years old. Yet for some unknown, bizarre reason, you still haven’t picked up on it.

Yes, Floyd was past his prime at 37. But he was still an elite level ATG. He’d easily beaten Canelo just 8 months later. And the reason why Maidana troubled him and Canelo didn’t, was simply due to styles.

Why you can’t grasp this is truly baffling.

Yes, Ray was finished at the same age.

Again, even a novice fan of the sport appreciates that age and ring are two completely different things, where fighters age completely differently, based upon their styles and their circumstances.

You should already be aware of this.

Floyd would have had a tough out against Mayorga, as Floyd was a master boxer who had hand issues at the higher weights. He played chess in the ring. He was a technician. That’s great against other boxers. But Mayorga wasn’t a boxer. He was a brawler. Look at the clip where he deliberately let Vernon Forrest hit him. The guy was crazy. He went toe to toe with MW’s. There’s no way on earth that Floyd could have knocked him out. What power did Floyd possess at 154? Mayorga would have fought him aggressively like Maidana did. Again, Floyd was a genius in the ring, so he’d have been the favourite. But Mayorga would have given him a very tough night. And if you can’t see that, then you need to go and educate yourself.

I don’t think it would have been easy work.

Floyd wouldn’t even have weighed 154 himself.

Floyd could have out boxed him, but he’d never have deterred him from pressuring him and going forward.

I don’t see the logic in saying that he’d have caused him hell at 147, yet he’d have got washed at 154.

The difference couldn’t possibly have been that big.
