Again though we,re sitting blaming hearn when its frank putting it on as ppv. As i,ve always said....this is just the reality of it. If you want to regularly see contender v contender against each other....your gonna need to fund it cause no one else will. The reality is before ppv became mainstream in recent years.....fighters we,re mainly avoiding the contender fights as best as they could... holding out for that big money shot. Theres a reason why whyte and chisora have fought better opposition in the last few years than say pulev fought his whole career for example. What do people want from boxing....a slow moving sport that rarely features contender v contender fights for say their normal sky subscription. Or a fast moving sport with contenders fighting contenders regularly. If you want the latter...you,ll need to fund it. Thats pretty much what it comes down to. I think the biggest concern tho should be the quality of these cards. The quality from frank and eddie is going down at an alarming rate to the point the undercards are shockingly bad. That and the price point. Why cant parker v joyce not be say a tenner. But arguing against ppv is a waste of time imo unless your happy with a slow moving sport where contender rarely meets contender etc...because thats exactly what you,ll get without ppv. The value for a contender is fighting a guy who has no chance against him....keeps the 0....one step closer to the big money fight....and his names enough to generate a half decent little pay day for himself without any real risk and needing to pay the opponent too much. Eddie never caused that...the boxers themselves just started to realise the smart move for their careers as time went on. Take ppv away tomorrow...parker will go back fighting the low risk guys again waiting for a big fight shot. Joyce will probably be waiting forever for a shot. Hes barely managed a shot with ppv. They wont take that risk off their own back. Or not regularly enough anyway.
Chisora clearly isn't as good a fighter as either Joyce or Parker but it's pretty simple that he's made enough noise over the years compared to Joyce who is the brit. As a boxing fan of course I'd rather watch Joyce Parker but I understand the fight won't sell because boxing isn't a brand to say number 2 v number 3 in rankings is worthy of PPV. There's simply no way this fight sells more than Chrisora Parker. It's going to flop big time with exaggerated numbers given. If anything DDD v Joyce was a bigger fight commercially given the hype around DDD.
Tell that to Mayweather, Canelo, Fury etc. It's a niche sport but a thriving business if played correctly.
Don't be silly - went to a bar for the big fight as normal and get the rod out for a spot on the lake for the smaller Matchroom Bi-Monthly PPV shows. Never missed a fight I wanted to watch but never bought a Box Office event in my life and doubt I ever will.
Why can't box nation come back and start getting all the big fights. I'd pay for it if they were all on there. Build up is pretty good too. I also like that you can record it onto your sky/virgin box and skim through the build up plus watch any repeats or archives. Fk watching stuff online
Premier Sports own that channel now and there is nothing but repeats these days. DAZN UK should try and buy it as the Matchroom Cards are out of sight out of mind to the public. No In-Play betting on Matchroom Cards either these days as the DAZN UK streams are delayed broadcasts by at least 60 secs.
Everything with 2 Brit HW's in it nowadays in PPV in the UK. Doesn't matter which promoter, as long as there are enough people buying that s__t
