Anyone that pays to watch chisora should be embarrassed he's never been good. Quite sad amount that buy ppvs over fake beef rather than 2 quality pound for pound fighters
Hardly a loss to betting punters. The odds for some fights on fight day tell a story, usually a very different 1 from the 50/50 narrative spouted in the build up.
This has always puzzled me, these many thousands that consider chisora a big enough draw to contribute to his purse via ppv yet I've never in my life met anyone that's bought a ppv just because he's on it...has anyone on here ever pressed the buy button for a card based on chisoras presence?
No no no, this is where you fall into the Matchroom FC trap. PPV is clearly overused in this country, but you’ve lost sight of what it is. It should be for the best, most competitive fights, or the huge events. Derek Chisora is more popular than Parker and Joe Joyce. He’s not better than either of them, despite having one competitive match with Parker. Joyce vs Parker is between two who could and likely will go on and challenge again for world honours - Derek will never fight for a title again and if we’re honest he was very fortunate to have a shot at one in the first place. I don’t think Joyce / Parker is PPV, but it’s so much more than Derek’s last few showings, as it’s an intriguing, 50/50 fight.
Mate I was buying PPV nearly 25 years ago, so I see how it's changed. Del brings in Big numbers. Like it or lump it, that is all that networks care about. Stop harping on about Matchroom. It's like an echo chamber in here. Would you say Fury vs Whyte was PPV worthy?
Joyce vs Parker is 100% PPV worthy (if anything needs to be in the HW Division) With Usyk and Joshua tied in together and Fury (apparently vacanting) this leaves these two directly in line with the winner to face Wilder for the belt if he comes back. Since last weekend's Whyte defeat, there are NO other PPV HW boxers left other than these two, Joshua/Usyk and Wilder if he fights on.
Joyce v Parker is a good fight but why should it be Ppv? Neither fighter is really in a position to demand £1,000,000 plus for a fight. Just pay them less and let a big audience watch it.
Or alternatively let them take their own risk; they get basic TV rights fees plus a share of the upside. If nobody watches, that's their problem.
Yes, I would say Fury vs Whyte was PPV worthy for the following 3 reasons; - For a meaningful world title with the champion defending against a top ranked contender - A big event in that it was two brits contesting the genuine world title (not like Haye / Audley but more Lewis / Bruno) - Featured Fury who is probably the biggest star in british boxing. I know Del brings in numbers, but I don’t think he’s a PPV attraction as largely his fights are fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of things (have no real ramifications at world level.)
It was more PPV worthy than ALL Joshua's fights except Wlad and Usyk, more PPV worthy than all Whyte and Chisora's PPV fights to date plus it was for the World Heavyweight Title at Wembley Stadium in front of a record 94,000 fans featuring the homecoming of Superstar Tyson Fury.
