Do you think there is a decent argument that Buster Douglas should be in the Hall of Fame based on him beating a Mike Tyson who was then thought to be unbeatable and becoming undisputed Heavyweight champion (WBO was not rated a major organisation then) which I think only Holyfield and Bowe have achieved since?

Beating an out of sorts Tyson tyhem jumping on the floor after three rounds v Holyfield cannot get you in the hall of fame, Buster was nowhere near an elite fighter he just benefitted from a massive reach advantage v Mike.

No. Can't make it based on one win.

No, not even close, one good win doesn't make you hall of fame worthy.

    No.

The way in which he surrendered the title to EH was terrible, now if he went on and beat holy and rematched Mike and won then maybe he could be considered for it, but it is a no from me.

I don't know and don't care. What I do know is, regardless of Tysons circumstances, Buster Douglas looked ****ing amazing that night. That peefrormance is so underrated, the lateral movement, jab, viciousness, punch variation was beautiful.. Some of the best I've seen at heavyweight

No I don’t think he should. He was a good heavyweight who had some decent wins but lacked in dedication and consistency. He happened to catch Tyson at the right time and cemented himself in boxing history. Does anyone really think a rematch would have been a lot different!

Tyson was the most skilled heavyweight of all-time, Buster was just too big.

I like Buster and his skill set but based on what he accomplished no.

Beating Tyson was his best achievement (and a great one at that) but besides that and a couple of other good wins prior to Tyson he didn't set himself as a league above to be in the HOF.

Good career with a grear win, not great a great career with multiple great wins.

Going against the stream here, by going with the litteral meaning. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Achievements.

That's the reasoning they used to put guys in that were famous in boxing, but didn't really achieve much or anything at all in the ring.

James 'Buster' Douglas is one of the most famous boxers out there. For pulling the biggest upset in boxing history, and one of the biggest in sports history.

Lesser boxers have been inducted. Even non boxers.
If it was achievements, you could throw out a whole bunch of them.

Hall of Shame for not training hard for the Holyfield defence? Yes, for sure.
