There's probably quite a few who are thought of as good yet did shady things. Regardless, I always separate art from the artist. I'm not fussed about how strong a boxer's moral compass is. That's not why I was drawn to the sport. The decisions of those outside of the ropes does not dilute my interest.

I dont k ow how anyone could rank Spadafora that high? Sure he has some issues and misdemeanors but nothing THAT bad. The shooting instance was also blown out of proportion.
Shhh. It's a necessary corrective to all the idolization of Sonny Liston and his urbane wit. Let it run. Also, has anyone mentioned Ron Lyle yet?
This forum is so weird. A lot of the stuff written, imagine hearing it spoken from someone's actual mouth and not just seeing it as some text on the internet, it really changes the way I look at some posters here.
I guess we can add John Jackson. "Jackson was found guilty of all charges filed in a six-count indictment, after jurors deliberated for six-and-a-half hours. The trial got underway in District Court on Monday. Four of the six counts are related to a victim referred to in the indictment as Jane Doe 1 — production of child pornography, first-degree **** of a person whose resistance was prevented 'by stupor or weakness of mind' because of an intoxicating substance, aggravated second-degree **** of a person between the age of 13 and 15, and transportation of a minor for sexual activity. The other two counts are transportation of a minor for sex, related to two additional victims, Jane Doe 2 and Jane Doe 3." http://www.virginislandsdailynews.c...l&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=user-share
You don't regularly get accosted on the street by people speculating about whether an invisible Primo Carnera could beat Riddick Bowe on steroids? What kind of weird country do you live in, mate?
That's not this thread, but yes, hard to fault either of them. Especially Patterson. He has to be the nicest champ, in any combat sport, ever.
I was more referring to actual weird stuff, people talking about how robust, thickly muscled and powerful Sonny Listons haybale built body is, absolutely succulent. LOL.
