Lewis Lewis was outboxed by the poor man’s AJ Frank Bruno before Bruno’s chin and engine predictably gave out in the 7th, was clearly outboxed by late replacement B-side contender Vitali after 6 when the fight was stopped inconclusively on cuts and went back on his post-fight promise to give Vitali a rematch.

Despite turning pro at 23 after around 100 amateur bouts and primarily being a boxer-puncher, Lewis couldn't beat 10 of his opponents inside the distance (washed and short notice Ocasio, washed and short notice Billups, washed Tucker, McCall 1, Mercer, vegetarian Mavrovic, faded Holyfield 1, faded Holyfield 2, unfit Tua, Rahman 1) and only dropped one of them (washed Tucker) with 8 of the 34 he beat inside the distance being 215 lbs or less, he never stopped an opponent after the 8th round (strongly suggesting that his stamina/pacing was lacking) and he got one-punch KO’d twice in or around his prime by B/C level opponents (a fate befallen by no other reigning champion in any weight class before or since and repeats of his KO3 defeat to Abadzhan in the amateurs; one of Lewis’s 4 listed, non-walkover losses to Soviet school fighters out of 7 total defeats).

Usyk has an excellent chin (never even knocked down in 19 pro fights, 4 of which were against reigning world champions and there’s no record of Usyk being knocked down with a head shot in his entire 375 fight career) engine, speed, agility, co-ordination, balance, ring IQ, focus, heart, confidence, experience (350 amateur bouts plus 6 semi-pro) holistic skills, is an undefeated, undisputed cruiserweight champion and unified heavyweight champion, so he very likely joins the ranks of the survivors.

Manny Steward stated that Wlad was a superior athlete to Lewis, more intelligent, more experienced, naturally bigger, had more punching power and was better in most technical respects: the same Wlad who Usyk was able to “boss” and “twist up” in sparring. Lewis would try to bring the fight to Usyk while being outboxed but he wasn’t able to overpower a number of smaller fighters, including the warhorse fringe contender Mercer (12 months inactive, 0-1-1 and robbed a 7-9-2 journeyman in one of his only two fights in the previous 2.5 years, in the midst of a 0 KO’s in 6 fights streak) who outjabbed “prime” Lewis and fought him to a MD, with no rematch materialising. Lewis lost at least 4 rounds by consensus to a 37 year old small cruiser Holyfield who had been KO’d by a faded Bowe 4 years prior and was on the cusp of losing to John Ruiz. He also struggled with and gassed against the 6’3, sub-215 lbs, light punching domestic and area level basher vegetarian Mavrovic. Lewis would be led onto counters and fatigue trying to chase the much faster, more agile, better conditioned and defensively skilled Usyk around the ring.

To top it all off, Lewis never fought a southpaw (even dropping the IBF belt to sidestep Byrd) or a 6’3-ish mover of any note, while undefeated road warrior modern athlete Usyk outclassed prime SHW A-side unified belt holder AJ 9-3 in AJ’s backyard as a 5/2 underdog in his 3rd heavyweight pro fight and his first heavyweight championship fight. Usyk is the best of the best as a southpaw and a 6’3 mover, so Lewis probably struggles even more than Wlad did, who had far more experience sparring, fighting and beating good southpaw HW's than any other HW in history.

Usyk wins by UD (if Lewis didn’t duck).

Usyk is better than Lennox. Not at heavyweight though.

    - Wladimir has even worse losses than Lewis.
    - So far, Usyk wasn't able to KO anyone in the HW division.

Dumb thread. Both are great fighters, and their legacies are going to be a bit apples and oranges since Usyk did most of his work at cruiser. Glad to have had the pleasure of seeing them both.

ROTFLOL - Usyk would not beat Lennox Lewis. Not even in your imaginary magic land dreams.
This Usyk fanboy n*thugging is nauseating.
Usyk is a very talented boxer who could go undefeated, hall of fame at cruiser but he does not have the power
or size to be a dominant HW. Fine he caught AJ with no confidence left but palease.
That said Usyk bravely defended his country and should be honored for that.

I never understood the hate/dislike for Lennox Lewis, a big exciting heavyweight with many spectacular knock outs, sure he had some lackluster fights but the majority of his fights was great, what more can you ask for?!

LL is Top 3 best HW ever.

The Ukrainian is a special talent undoubtedly and style wise he would give lennox fits but he only has 3 HW fights .. Lewis is a bonafide all-time HW great you can't just dismiss him like that,
