Is Eusebio Pedroza In The Top 10 Of Grt Featherweight s?

Yeah, just inside I’d say. One signature win and he’d arguably be top 5.

 

I pretty much agree with this Pedroza had alot of solid wins, but not any signature wins as you said. Pedroza's best performance was probably dominating Patrick Ford, who came within a whisker of beating Salvador Sanchez. It's a pity Sanchez died so young because them two fighting, would of proved who was the best Featherweight of the 80s.

I would say he definitely deserves to be top 10 though, he has the record for the most title defences. And more often than not he'd find a way to win, using his craftiness and sometimes dirty fighting. But i enjoyed watching him fight and i think he deserves a spot in the top 10 based on his longevity, i think in this case his quantity edges him there.

 

I think in terms of quality of opposition, you have to make the comparisons with Sanchez. While I don’t know how He would have done against Gomez, can’t see him losing to Lopez or any of the others?
He looked better against Ford and worse against Laporte, and you have to wonder if the shoe was on the other foot, how Sal would have done against the all round solids of Lockridge, and the negative nightmare of Taylor?

 

I think Sanchez would of had hell vs Taylor, Sanchez struggled with Ruben Castillo's movement. I think Taylor would run him close until Sanchez eventually catches up to him in the latter part of the fight.

 

I'd put him top ten, yes. Lot of defenses, very skilled and a nightmarish style to confront. Despite his angular , thin build he was durable too. Not a lot of flaws there.

 

Yea, like this, I would have him in top ten also, not the biggest of punchers, not the best boxer, but a very durable tough opponent, that I feel would give the likes of, Sanchez Saldivar Pep Saddler ( what a rough and rugged fight ) a good run for their money. stay safe guys.

 

I think Sanchez would have came to fight against him like he did Gomez, and stop his dirty ass late!

 

Apples and oranges. Pedroza wouldn't have fought like Gomez, so Sanchez wouldn't have had those kind of opportunities.

Just outside for me. Great championship longevity, some good names on his record and more talented than a lot of his detractors would have you believe....But overshadowed by Sanchez 1980-82 (regardless of him doing a better job against Ford), never conclusively proved himself the best at 126 and there is an unpleasant stench surrounding a couple of his biggest wins.

Can't be much in it, but I see Eusebio just missing out. Wouldn't particularly object if someone squeezed him in at number 10, though.

 

I don't actually. I don't care what anyone says Lockridge WON that first fight and it was a BS decision.
And he should have been disqualified in the Laporte bout as those were awful low blows and he did it throughout the entire bout.

 

I didn't think the first Lockridge fight was a robbery, it was a close fight and i thought Pedroza edged it. The fight was just as close as Sanchez vs Ford and no one holds that against Sanchez.

I agree Pedroza did take liberties in the LaPorte fight though, and may of been somewhat lucky not to get DQ'ed. But as for the actual scoring Pedroza won it fairly comfortably vs LaPorte on my card by 4 points if i remember rightly.
