So what do you think would happened had he have fought Maidana first, then Canelo 8 months later?

I would expect a guy like you to think that a 34 y/o Mayorga was shot when Shane knocked him out and a 37 year old Floyd was prime when he beat Maidana twice simply because Floyd lives in your head, rent free.

I’d expect the same from dynamic because he resorts to gossiping about other posters like a beta when they disagree with his Simple Simon logic.

The bottom line is that Mayorga wouldn’t have a chance in hell against Floyd and would either get ud’d or tko’d.

Idk. Age is a cruel mistress. And I’ve seen you write diatribe after diatribe about what dropping weigh in your 30s can do a fighter. Better stay consistent there.

    Every fighter ages differently.

Again, you should have picked that up as soon as you started watching the sport.

How does Floyd live in my head?

We’ve had many debates where I’ve said that he’s one of the greatest fighters who’s ever lived.

I’ve referred to him as being a genius in this very thread.

Please tell me what Simple Simon logic Dynamic has used?

How would a 150 pound safety first fighter with hand issues have TKO’d Mayorga?

Your opinions are never reality based.

Burning muscle quickly at an advanced age.

    That’s not what Floyd did.

It was nothing to do with age.

    The issue was clearly styles.

Floyd was great when he wasn’t pressured against fellow boxers.

Floyd was troubled when he was pressured.

Castillo, Oscar and Maidana all pressured Floyd.

Canelo just stood off of him all night.

    Pretty easy to work out.

I am not sure why people are interested in Mayorga. He lost to the top guys he fought. Mayweather would win a UD here. Easy.

Oh...It was big enough. Mayorga's big wins at 154lbs were over a light hitting natural welterweight in Picorrillo and a badly faded Vargas. That's it. He lost to every other relevant junior middleweight he faced. He clearly didn't hit as hard, and wasn't able to walk through fire as consistently as he did at welterweight. He just didn't fight with the same intensity as he did at 147lbs.

It's true. Mayorga beat a quality fighter like Forrest twice, then, after that, he turned into a joke and everyone beat him. Those two fights are still bizarre to me. It must have been something to do with styles. At the time, Forrest might have been a threat to Mayweather, same with Paul Williams, but it didn't turn out that way.

He was pretty legit because he took out Six Heads before Forrest. Mayorga was basically B+ level briefly and then C+ level from Spinks onward. Still a good career, but not a beats Mayweather type of career.

He should of beaten Spinks for the undisputed 147 strap, he just took a career beating from Trinidad at 160 and was never the same. That beating he took was extremely brutal, beaten for 8 rounds straight and never recovered from the free shots he gave Trinidad in the first round.

    I appreciate what you’re saying.

    I respect it.

However, Floyd wasn’t a JMW and he was a light hitting WW.

Yes, Mayorga did lose to every top fighter he faced at JMW, and I think that Floyd would also have beaten him. But Floyd wasn’t as aggressive as those other guys, and he didn’t have their firepower.

Floyd was a master boxer. A technician. He had nothing to to deter Mayorga from pressing forward. I also suspect that Mayorga would have been extremely motivated to have fought a smaller guy who was considered the best P4P fighter in the world.

I think that Floyd would have won, but that Mayorga’s pressure and toughness would have caused him some issues.

Floyd's always been more of a sharp puncher at higher weights. I don't think he hit particularly hard, but he definitely seemed to hit harder than opponents thought. Probably explains why he was able to wobble Ortiz early in the 4th, hurt Cotto and Berto with single shots later in the fight, and keep Canelo and Pacquiao at a desired range for much of those respective contests.

I think your likely template for Mayweather-Mayorga at 154lbs is Cotto-Mayorga . Floyd might drop a round or two, but never really be threatened after the early rounds and Mayorga would be reduced to mugging for the crowd as the fight unfolded.

I don’t believe that Manny and Canelo were bothered by Floyd’s power.

It was his reach and his hand speed that concerned them the most.

Mayorga wouldn’t have been at a range.

He’d have been in Floyd’s face.

I think it would have resembled the first Maidana fight more than the Cotto one, but either way, I think that Floyd would have won a U/D, but one which would have been competitive due to Mayorga’s size, strength and style.

Nope, it was power. Handspeed and reach are not deterrents. Just sharing my knowledge w you.

Hand speed and reach aren’t deterrents?

Are you actually on this planet and being serious?

    Floyd didn’t have any power.

He needed injections in his hands.

How many power punches did he throw?

It was his hand speed and his huge reach advantage that caused them the biggest issues.

Floyd had a huge reach for a man of his size, fighting in those lower weight classes.

Canelo was repeatedly caught with straight right hands.

He seemed terrified of getting countered, so he stood back.

Why would he have feared Floyd’s power, when he’d already fought Shane, who was much more powerful, and who you didn’t consider to be shot at the time?
