Usyk still has more to prove. Then these conversations can have some credibility

 

I said Lewis was almost 38 years old : 37 years old and 292 days actually... exact age difference = 6 years old.

And Lewis didn't prepare for Vitali too, but for Kirk Johnson.

Wladimir 37 years old vs an almost 35 years old Povetkin. Wladimir is also both taller and heavier than Povetkin. Exact age difference = 3 years old.

Wladimir 38 years old vs 33 years old Pulev. Wladimir is once again both taller and heavier. Exact age difference = 5 years old.

Also, Vitali is ranked 16 on BoxRec (HW ranking), Povetkin 18, Pulev 79 and Peter 134.

Yeah Vitali did beat a younger Peter, but he was taller and heavier at the same time.

So at the end, nothing comparable to what did Lewis, sorry...

Not to mention that it's easier to have longer longevity with modern science, so it's not even comparable in the first place...

Exactly. You have provided a comprehensive list of reasons otherwise and the only thing these clowns can say is "no" "dumb thread" - that's essentially as far as there arguments go. Just goes to show how dumb and how set in their mindset boxing fans are without being able to argue otherwise.

These guys should really go watch Lennox Mercer. Lennox looked shite there and slow, lumbering and basic. Usyk would toy with this Lennox

 

Yeah but it's boxing math... Fury looked bad against McDermott in their first fight, yet he's the current WBC champion.

With the same reasoning, Usyk beat Joshua who had a competitive fight against a more than 40 years old Wladimir and who lost against Ruiz.

On the other hand, Lewis beat a prime Vitali.

 

Oh OK...he is greater based on mythical matchup instead of actual accomplishment.

Didn't realize win against Joshua is now career defining greatness. I guess Ruiz must be up there too, cause he stopped Joshua.

 

And by TKO... to be fair, beating Joshua is very impressive for a cruiserweight, but some people already act as if Usyk is the greatest HW ever, which is simply laughable...

 

You mean Lewis ducked the rematch after winning a competitive fight via cut. And who did Vitali go on to beat? Corrie Sanders? Chris Arreola?

 

Usyk is getting absurdly overrated.

Lewis is a top 5 HW of all time. Uysk is barely in the top 100.

 

He was 37 years old... if i'm not wrong, Usyk is only 35 and already speaks about retiring soon ?

And what's Usyk's resume at HW ? Joshua and Chisora ? So he's already the greatest ever ?

And Vitali is ranked 16 on BoxRec (HW ranking) and Usyk 25. Lewis is 3.

If a Prime Lennox replaced Joshua in the Usyk fight. Usyk would have no belts right now.

Lennox would make the adjustments if outboxing did not work unlike Joshua.

 

Usyks win over Joshua > Lewis' win over fatso Tua, Grant, Bruno (which he was competitive with and illegally knocked him out), old Holyfield (remember context.... Usyk smaller guy going into the backyard of prime AJ then 8-3,9-3ing him. On the oither hand we have a Lennox heavily outweighing (and height/reach advantage) a small cruiser - which he was very competitve with. In the second fight there is a strong case for Holyfield winning 5 rounds), B-C level Rahman, Briggs, and Mercer. I could go on.

Keep in mind this was Usyks third fight at HW. He had 6 rounds against Witherspoon then fought Chisora a year after. So he had 6 rounds against a nobody in two years prior to fighting Chisora and still 8-4d him despite looking tiny.

I suggest you watch Usyks fight against AJ and Gassiev. And also watch Mercer Vs Lewis. Lewis looked very beatable in that fight (many had Mercer winning.. I score it recently as a draw but depending on how you score, that could be an L) and Usyks movement alone would have given Lennox seizures.

 

Usyk only beat 2 HW in his pro career and struggled badly with Chisora in the first rounds... you can argue as much as you want, your point will remain irrelevant.

Usyk is a great boxer pound for pound, but he didn't prove anything yet in the HW division to be even compared to more modest HW boxers.

Actually, he was very lucky to get a title shot so soon, because i really doubt he would have remained undefeated with more fights in this division.

There are HW who did far more Usyk and people still usually rate them behind Lewis (Wladimir and Vitali for instance) so you can keep dreaming if you want...
