I remember reading about Moorer bulking up to heavy. He did a very dirty bulk, eating multiple meals including fast food and milkshakes even late at night. You never know about PEDs especially in that era (or sometimes you obviously can) but that's what I remember about Moorer bulking up
If he was clean of PEDs, stuffing his face-& I am sure working out hard-is to me a very "clean" way of bulking up!
I believe Moorer walked around above 200 pounds, even as a Light Heavyweight. He obviously had anger and suicidal issues in his life. I don't think his head was always on straight. I do believe, in later years, he got his act together just fine.
Ha true, by "dirty bulk" I mean not a gradual bulking up in weight, but rather, the "dirty" refers to eating a lot of garbage also to gain whatever weight you can.
Teddy’s look-at-me antics were so cringe. Sits down on stool: ‘If you won’t fight him, I will.’ MM should have shrugged and then started acting like a cornerman and said, ‘OK, keep your hands up and work your jab,’ asked the other cornermen to give Teddy water, etc. Or the cell phone thing: ‘Your children just called, they’re crying asking why isn’t daddy fighting hard enough and doing what Uncle Teddy says?’ Or something like that, lol. MM should have said, ‘Hand me the phone, let me talk to them.’
At the time I thought Moored was that big of a head case that Atlas had to resort to those tactics to motivate him. Over time I've realized Atlas is a little out there and Moorer is a bit of a headcase but not to the degree that people watching this would think.
Teddy Atlas pulled a gun on young Mike Tyson and later stalked Donnie Lalonde with a gun, going to his apartment with intent to murder him but Lalonde wasn’t there. If anyone in this scenario is a head case, I think Scarface Teddy takes the prize.
Fighter's are all complicated and Moorer falls into the category of fighter that always made you feel like he wasn't going balls to the wall .. Ray Arcel was famous for saying this about Ezzard Charles at heavyweight , that he was like a fine race horse that wouldn't run .. I'd have like to see him stay at 175 for more as he was supposed to be a monster at that weight .. I get he wanted the money but became a different fighter ..
