Let's assume Bivol is going to come to win and not spar. Canelo's last legit fight was Billy Joe Saunders (actually the stoppage was a bit weird with MTK Ben stepping in over actual trainer Tibbs, also we didn't get any confirmation of eye socket injury). This was a Billy who is a natural 160lber. Billy won (it was pretty much handed to him) the 168lb WBO belt off of a journeyman at a football stadium in Shefat Isufi. By the time he fought Canelo he hadn't fought a legit world level opponent in 3-4years (Lemieux). In the years between, Billy looked pretty much average against low level opposition. His last fight before Canelo was against 40 yo past it Murray where he still looked off. Why does everyone just blank out this context? Despite all these factors, Billy arguably was 5-2 or 5-3 up on the scorecards before the "stoppage". Myself and many had him up, even Dazn commentator Chris Mannix had Billy winning 5 rounds. The Bivol that is coming to "fight" against Canelo, is bigger, longer and harder hitting than this Billy Joe. He looks fresher than that Billy despite looking off against Richards. The Bivol that is fighting Canelo is undoubtedly better than the Billy fought Canelo. At the end of the day, there's so much money invested into Canelo a risk like a Bivol would be unacceptable. Bivol I'm afraid is most likely going to come to spar
They're trying to make Canelo into a knockout artist.. Something he's not. Bivol will get "knocked out"
The Plant fight wasn't legit ? are you serious right now ? And Saunders quit because of the broken orbital bone. Thats a dangerous injury. Nothing suspect about it
After a while of not knowing who to pick I’m going with Bivol by close decision. He has the style to trouble Canelo, but unlike all the other movers Canelo has faced, Bivol is the biggest and has the least amount of holes in his game
I’ve been trying to trick myself into believing that it will be close, but honestly Bivol isn’t that good. He’ll need to have the fight of his life and for Canelo to have a bad night for it to be close. Realistically and honestly, Canelo stops him without too much trouble.
