The Greater Fighter - Pacquiao Or SRL??

In the categories that I’ve put forward, yes.

However, the first 3 trump the second 3.

To me, they’re just more important.

So Ray was the better overall fighter.

 

Like you’ve said, Ray was a better fighter H2H.

He had more ability.

He’d have beaten Manny in a fight.

He has the better wins.

Manny had the deeper resume, the longevity, and he achieved more.

It’s close, but I say Ray.

 

It’s interesting.

Everybody sees things differently.

You have to respect Manny for his professionalism, dedication and longevity. It’s awesome. His achievements are also great. And he has a deeper resume.

However, I just don’t think that he was a better fighter than Ray when they were both in their primes.

I also don’t think that he’d have beaten Ray in a fight, and Ray has the better wins. He doesn’t have as many top level wins, but Ray just beat better fighters.

It has to be Ray for me.

 

That's fair enough as I said I can see argument both ways, the only thing I will say. Is that I think people saying Leonard would beat Pacquiao in a fight, is a tad unfair to Pacquiao. Because Welterweight was Leonard's best weight, and that isn't Pacquiaos best weight. I'm not saying Leonard couldn't necessarily beat Pacquiao, but having them fight at Welterweight is a little unfair.

Srl beat Hagler as much as Pac beat JMM and had a AJ vs Ruiz type victory over Duran.
He so clearly lost vs Hearns the second time.
With his history of stacking the deck taken in mind its easily Pac imo with all his accomplishments and longetivity.

 

Ray did beat Marvin. Marvin gave away the first 3 rounds and he stood off of him and showed him too much respect. Ray hadn’t fought in 3 years when he fought Marvin. So it was a legitimate great win, even though Marvin was faded. Ray was also faded.

Manny sometimes stacked the deck too.

It can’t easily be anyone, and especially not Manny.

 

Just to elaborate a bit more, again, the points you’ve made are fare. But I wouldn’t say that it was really unfair to match them up. Not when some of Manny’s best wins were at WW and above. Also, Ray fought in the days of same day weigh-ins. So he’d probably have been a LWW in the modern era. That’s why I initially said a fight could have happened between LWW-JMW.

Really hard one. In achievements, Pac. Lineal titles from FLW to WW is just insane, but he wasn't as good in a single weight as Leonard was at WW. Have to think about this one some more.

 

If Pacquiao had fought in the SRL era Pacquiao wouldn't made it to far close thread.
