Of course he would be the GOAT if he did that. There would be no other boxer even close. Roy Jones is talked about in those conversations and look who he fought at light heavy, who he didn’t fight, and the hype he got for outpointing John Ruiz. Then compare his record to Canelo’s. If Canelo unified super middle, light heavy, and then heavyweight then he would be undoubtedly the GOAT. This goes to show how much we underrate current fighters, and how much hate Canelo gets. He could do absolutely everything in the sport and clearly be the GOAT and you’d still be like ‘That puts him in the top ten, that’s pretty good’

he would certainly be the greatest fighter in modern boxing. bar none. nobody in the last 50 years could come close. hes already undersized at 175, 200 would be superman territory. i dont think he will feel the same way once hes done at 175. but, if by some miracle he pulled it off, who would argue that he dont belong in the conversation? maybe hes the guy that comes around every hundred years.

Betya, I am a Canelo fan. I have nothing against him. I don't believe Golovkin was robbed in their two fights and I don't believe he has had other fights where the refs were "bought". My comments are more related to the fact that I don't think Beterbiev and Bivol are anything special. They're just special for right now. Obviously, Usyk is fantastic but I do think he is a bit overrated. Essentially, I think Canelo is far enough away from GOAT status at the moment that wins over those guys aren't enough to get him to number one.

Lastly, you responded as if me saying he would be in the top ten was an insult. To the contrary, saying Canelo would be grouped with Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Willie Pep and others is the highest compliment I can give him.

All he would have to do is still be standing after 12 rounds.

If he achieved he’d definitely be in the conversation for the Greatest Of All Time, but it ain’t gonna happen. The undisputed at 175 is definitely achievable but Usyk at any weight cruiser and above, it ain’t gonna happen

If a middleweight blows up to beat a legit contender for best cruiserweight of all time then sure im happy to give him goat status.

A victory over Bivol is no guarantee.

To beat Beterbiev he would have to go through a war and take huge punishment and I can't see his HGH filled body being that robust.

And then.....you want him to gain another 20lb+ to fight a boxing wizard?

Let's not forget that Canelo was wearing thermal tape on his knees in the Fielding fight and he has had many many hard training camps since; especially with weight training and high impact explosive training. This all takes a toll on your body eventually.

175lbs is the ceiling for Canelo.

Armstrong was robbed of having 4 belts at the same time in an era where there were only 8 divisions. And as there was only 1 champion per weight was THE guy to beat when he held championships. Not one of many.

Pacquiaos win over thurman is impressive, but again its not like he was THE man at welter when he beat him.

He lost to his career rival in Floyd, and many people think that he was lucky to get all 3 of the first fights with Marquez. I personally think he was 2-1 up going into the fourth fight, where he got stopped brutally with the most conclusive result from any of their fights.

Honestly just posting stats like that without taking context into account is beyond stupid. Is Pacquiao an ATG? Of course he is. Is he high up on the list? I'd say so...but he isn't the GOAT. Him and floyd have both benefitted greatly from boxing being at a low point in terms of the number of belts available and the ability to fight at catchweights.

If he unifies LH and beats Usyk at a catch weight? That would be very impressive but also very unlikely. Usyk imo is too big for him.

So why didn't you provide context?
