Bivol goes down on the first jab thrown in the fight. After the ten count he gets up, Hogan walks to the ring, and they reform the NWO
Canelo by S/D. Bivol is not gonna stop Canelo, Canelo isn't gonna stop Bivol. Bivol will do work behind the jab but Canelo will land in combination and score with the more "showing" shots. Basically this will be similar to Canelo/Golovkin 1, a steady scoring shot will be overruled by flashier stuff. Canelo will then be lauded as #1 at LHW after this win.
The difference is that in Canelo GGG 1, GGG was coming forward chasing Canelo all night, swinging and missing most of the time and being caught being over-agressive. Bivol isn't gonna come forward and walk into big shots like GGG did I don't think. Nor do I see Bivol getting frustrated trying to close the distance like GGG did. Bivol is far more fleet footed and a better mover than GGG, so I'd expect Canelo to have a more difficult time finding Bivol and landing on him than he had on GGG. GGG was pretty much target practice for Canelo in that first fight, it was just a matter of when Canelo decided to engage. With Bivol, it's a completely different situation, Bivol is far more elusive, better on his feet than GGG, but less effective as a pressure fighter. So I can see it being more of a low chess match with both fighters trying to pick their shots more. Unlike against GGG the first time, it may be up to Canelo to engage Bivol to make the fight. It's unclear how Bivol will approach Canelo. Will he be super cautious early and make Canelo come to him. Lets remember GGG was very cautious against Canelo early on the first time they fought, and it took GGG until about round 5 to really start opening up and land. Will it take Bivol that long or will he stand in the center of the ring and trade against Canelo? It's hard to predict how Bivol will fight beause he is the bigger man but even as the bigger man he knows how dangerous and heavy handed Canelo is as a fighter. At the same time he can't be too cautious or else he could find himself down the cards. So I see where you're coming from thinking that Bivol's steady scoring shots could be overruled by flashier stuff from Canelo, but the difference is that GGG got a lot of credit for coming forward, and it's not Bivol's style to do that, unlike GGG, he's shown himself to be very comfortable moving away and making his opponent coming to him, whether or not he can maintain the work rate that GGG did against Canelo remains to be seen. I can actually see Bivol trying to match Canelo in the flashy shots department, picking shots from the outside, Bivol trying to land clean rather than just outwork Canelo like GGG did.
Seen a bunch of interviews from this week were the interviewers have posed Bivol, who is one of the nicest, most humble and likeable fighters in the game, the question if he, as a Russian, deserves the fight given the current situation It's fight week, a few days before he's due in the ring, and they're still asking him questions like that. I like Bivol. I really do. But he has to knock ginger out to win. Or drop him twice which wont happen. The tears of juiced up baby cows wont allow that. Canelo on points and he will knock Bivol down once. Ginger fights an elephant seal next. Dies in the process but still wins on points.
If the whole boxing world and experts predict that Canelo will win it should not be a close fight - perhaps a KO opportunity for Canelo against Bivol. I previously thought a MD for Canelo based on Bivol being taller, very efficient and active, huge amateur career and undefeated in the pro and at his weight and prime. It seems that won't be enough? Oh well. Canelo is not p4p, he is God ?
This. However, Canelo wears Bivol down late and stops him in the greatest performance of his career. No shame on Bivol. This will be Alvarez' Magnum opus. Such an expression by an athlete requires an opponent of Bivol's excellence. Best wishes to both men.
