Reasons Bivol can't beat Canelo.

Don’t forget the fact that he’s never been on this level of a stage before,he says they won’t but the crowd and bright lights might get to him. It’s kinda simple,Bivol could possibly use his jab and footwork to out maneuver and outbox Canelo for 12 rds but,I don’t think Bivol can take a sustained,well orchestrated beating from Canelo for 12 rds.

He’s gonna have to make Canelo respect him sooner or later by getting in his face and fighting him,and that’s where Bivols big disadvantage will come to light. He doesn’t have enough in his gameplan to stop Canelo from closing in nor can he stand toe to toe with Canelo. Canelo could possibly KO Bivol by rd 8 in my opinion.

If not,Bivol survives a 2nd half pummeling from Canelo that leaves no doubt.

The story of the fight will be “can Bivol stay off the ropes”and “can Canelo keep Bivol on the ropes”. Canelo’s best body shots and best shots in general will come from pinning Bivol on the ropes somehow,that’s the only real way Canelo can size up and wear down Bivol due to Bivols height advantage.

The only real way I see Bivol giving Canelo a real beating is by playing matador to Canelo’s bull. He’s gonna need to lure and trick Canelo to the ropes,find the perfect window and counter the life out of him with combos. He’s gonna need to do this while also maintaining distance and controlling the fight with the jab. He’s gonna also have to fight off the backfoot a lil bit,something a lot of fighters struggle with.

Tonight is such a good matchup,it’s very much a 50/50 matchup.

bivol is alot better then some of you give him credit for he is going to cause canelo problems will be win? probably not even if he wins 7 rounds he will be robbed but its a harder fight then plant or smith.

 

1. Agree. He's not a vicious LHW puncher with thudding power like Joe Smith or Artur Beterbiev.
2. Agree. The anti russian bias is real.
3. I tend to agree but i'm not sure if he really lands a lot of body shots on Bivol. Bivol is extremely hard to hit and moves constantly in circles.
4. I disagree. Smith Jr is way stronger than Clenelo.
