Along with most others here I'm glad he's finally called it a day. He had his last hurrah against Khan and kicked arse. I for one thought it would have gone the same way years ago had they both been prime.

I just hope he doesn't spunk his money unwisely and we see him back in the ring in a few years.

At this point in time he's got both his marbles and his chocolate brownies.

It meant zilch zippo zero by that point, but I'm still chuffed he got to dole out that ass-kicking before riding into the sunset. A) because it ends things on a high note, B) because to heck with delusional diva King Khan and his nearly-as-delusional fan base who doubtless for untold years afterward would have maintained that their guy would've won at any point in their careers including then, a`la this unresolved rivalry and circular debate: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/hatton-v-witter.685900/ :deal:

If you have a destined rival out there - fight him. Whenever, even if you're both shot. Just get to it, scratch if off your to-do list. I'm still mad at all parties involved in Gamboa vs. JuanMa never coming off. (mostly Bob, burning the soup)

Well, unless it's by perpetrating a mass shooting, in which case please don't. Try maybe pilates instead.

The correct decision. Happy retirement, champ.

Kell is a real fighting man

Fought the closer to prime GGG who Clenelo and many top MWs wanted absolutely no part of

After suffering a terrible eye injury and gruesome surgery to repair it, not knowing if he would even be able to see properly out the eye let alone continue with his career and ever fight again which took him to a very dark place for a while, he dropped back down in weight to defend his IBF title at 147 against undefeated young buck Errol Spence in his first fight back which many would not have done

Then after suffering the exact same career-threatening injury to his other eye after a savage billy goat butt from hell in round 8 against Errol, granted I don't think it was of the intentional variety like a Dre billy goat butt for instance, which completely changed the course of the fight as he was more than holding his own up until then, the demons and ghosts of that dark place he found himself after the GGG fight immediately returned to haunt him with a vengeance and he, quite rightfully I might add, had to pull out a few rounds later to save his sight and career.

FTR, his surgeon, the same surgeon who had informed him that one more punch in the GGG fight could've blinded him, was seated ringside for that fight and Kell caught him shaking his head in disapproval upon seeing the injury.

    Beat Porter in the US

Traveled back over there to face Terry when he himself was shot

And then he capped off a fine career with a one-sided drubbing of fellow Brit Level road warrior Khan, albeit a shot Khan, to finally put an end to their rivalry and feud

Fought a closer to prime GGG who was being ducked and avoided like he had the bubonic plague by many of the best fighters his own size

    Prime Terry on his soil

    Prime Errol

    Prime Porter on his soil

    Impressive stuff

There were some interesting fights out there for him but they were all dangerous and if he feels like he can’t get up for those fights anymore then it’s probably best for him to walk away. Retires on a massive high from that Khan win.

One of my favourite British fighters over the last 10 or so years and definitely one of the most talented. He achieved a lot but could have achieved so much more.

    Happy retirement to him!

His career was mismanaged when he was in his absolute prime. Great boxing IQ and should go down as one of all time British greats. I’ll always respect him for having a go against GGG

    Great fighter.

I remember watching his fight vs GGG, at that time GGG looked completely unstoppable, everyone was terrified of him. Kell Brook came up 2 weight classes and brought it to GGG, he has shown tremendous heart throughout his career. Sadly this move to MW was a bad move and it took some years off his prime.

I firmly believe if he stayed at 147 and never moved up, he would have beaten Spence and Crawford.

If he'd stayed disciplined. One of the reasons that he accepted the GGG fight was because he wasn't living the life of a professional athlete. Didn't look after himself between fights and nearly got found out against Carson Jones. That should've been a wake up call but it wasn't and he continued to yoyo in weight and not eat right except when he was in camp. A switched on, fully fit, motivated and disciplined Brook would've been a nightmare for anyone at 147 but unfortunately we only ever saw that on a handful of occasions. He wasn't exactly helped motivation wise by being fed the likes of Jo Jo Can and Kevin Bizier either.
