Exactly. If GGG and Canelo had met in their prime, same age, GGG would have beaten him handily.

it was not only bivol's straight. It was bivol's walking while throwing this straight. And not only this straight, but long 6-7 punches combinations, so that canelo's waist defense was negated and 3rd 4th 5th... punches could connect because canelos waist was not useful anymore after 2 steps and the 3 initial punches.

I love people who always have simple views about things. I bet you all are very happy people. I'm so jealous, I really mean it.

It’s all good my friend, I stand by what I said, and I know how you scored it (I respect it). What’s “incredible” is that he went to you for confirmation as opposed to addressing me if he disagreed, that’s what was “incredible”.

    So you had it 116 - 112

    I gave Canelo 4 and 9.

I am now going to rewatch 2 and 6.

I don't actually think it was arrogance or underestimation of Bivol, though. I'd guess he's just tired of the criticism by now and didn't want to give anyone a chance to deduct credit from a win.

Yeah with the first being basically a blow off round, which is why I said “not too far off” but not necessarily my score.

PMSL. You really do have to laugh at this. And I did prior to tonight's bout regardless of the outcome!

I'll bet Usyk and friends even with their current predicament are having a bit of a giraffe about all of that. A smile can be worth its weight in gold at times.

    Hahaha Funny as feck mate.really.

I think people's dislike for Canelo is clouding judgement a bit. Up until he gassed it was a high level, competitive fight, and he was doing plenty of solid work against the bigger man.

In the end stamina was one of the main deciding factors imo... which is a testament to Bivol as much as anything, as he was able to soak up Canelos home run shots and make him work harder once he sensed him fading.

While carrying 175 on his frame might have played a part, for me it wasn't the main reason for Canelo gassing.

He's always had stamina issues due to how much he puts into his punches, and when you mix that with a big guy who can absorb those shots and keep the energy of the fight high... and begins to throw volume when he sees Canelo fatiguing, I think that had more to do with it.

One thing I think that will get overlooked about Bivols performance is the mental toughness to remain a predator against Canelo while absorbing those kind of punches. It's not just about if someone is durable enough, they have to be mentally tough enough to remain the predator in there and not allow Canelo to gain ownership of the ring.

I think this fight showed both operators quality... I genuinely don't think Canelos stock falls all that much, especially since he will be 'back with a statement win (to the mainstreams perspective) after he beats Golovkin emphatically in the trilogy. Mainly showed he shouldn't be at 175. But it does show he has the same stamina issues I guess... and one has to wonder what other fighters are durable enough and mentally tough enough to exploit this in the near future.

The best part about tonight is the exposure Bivol got and the beautiful set up this is to Beterbiev.

Boxing finally feeling alive to me, if only for a little while lol.

    ...

Apologies on the choppyness of the post I'm pecking away on my phone lol. Thus spelling, grammar and structure suffer.

    ....

    Off to sleep. Cheers gentlemen.

I gave Canelo the 3rd and 9th. No way he could have gotten more. The punch stats tell it all, as well as both fighters faces. Bivol kicked his ass.

Edit -I actually gave Canelo rd 4 not rd 3.

I can't remember the 6th, but the 2nd was plain as day a Bivol round.

Congrats to Bivol for winning from round one to twelve. Even in a rematch I still see Bivol winning in a dominating fashion.

There is no shame for canelo losing to this champion he will come back. He should probably fight in a lower weight division rather than light heavyweight.

This just shows how Canelo wouldn't be able to contend with top contenders in Cruiserweight and Heavyweight.
