Classic crowd scoring in action. The crowd was at its peak in those first few rounds, before Bivol took control, and the judges bought in.

To be clear, I split those round 2-2 but if anything that was generous to Canelo. He shouldn't have been awarded 3 of the 4 and definitely not all 4! Bivol had to win the 12th to escape a bogus draw. What a joke.

Any round remotely close in any way gets scored for Canelo.

I was more surprised they didn't score additional rounds to Canelo like round zero, threve and eleventy in order to give him the win.

I gave Canelo round 1 and 2 and the action was pretty close in the early going

I was thinking during the fight they may give Canelo too much credit for landing on arms and shoulders and the occasional solid uppercut

    That is banana creme pie.

    Merely saying bananas doesn't suffice.

Punching a guy on the arms is not a scoring punch in boxing. The crew covering the fight last night know this but apparently conveniently “forgot” when covering this fight. They spent the night trying to set up the bad decision they assumed would be handed in Canelo’s favor. Thankfully it was too wide for even the judges to steal. That decision would have been bad for boxing.

Last night’s decision was still bad but they got it right so it’s pointless to complain too much. I had it Bivol 10-2 but you can make a case for 11-1. Bivol knocks him out if they meet again with no rehydration nonsense.

My biggest objection here is round 3. First round, whatever, and I gave Canelo close rounds in 2 and 4. But round 3 imo was the first clear Bivol round. Had they gotten that one right, you'd have had 116-112 across the board and that would have been generous to Canelo still but ultimately okay.

The more alarming issue to me is that they *all* had it as a four-round sweep. If you had one 115-113, a 116-112 and a 118-110, I'd say that was a solid range of scores. But even if Canelo had won only two cards in round 12, he'd have escaped with a MD. Farcical scoring.

I had the volume low enough to be practically muted (as everyone in my house was asleep by then and I couldn't be arsed to dig out my headphones) - I wonder if the smattering of people that saw R3 close or gave it to Canelo were influenced by commentary? That still doesn't account for all three judges giving Canelo the round, though. Hell, all three giving him rounds 2-4 is just ...baffling. 1st, sure, was a true swinger. Next three, however, increasingly clear for Bivol. Having it 40-36 in the other direction just defies explanation.

I gave Bivol round 1, but had Canelo winning the next three. Bivol wasn't sitting on his punches early, a lot like Kovalev, and the commentators were cheerleading him for basically fighting am style. He pulled it together after that, though.

    It sure was.
Some score 1 and 2 to Canelo, others score 1 and 2 to Bivol. Surely not corrupt for the judges to give these rounds to Canelo since they've proven to be close and hard to score amongst fans.

The problem is that they didn't split the rounds. It was 4-0 on all cards with no variance. That shouldn't happen unless a fighter clearly is winning, and certainly that was not the case.

I just re-watched round 1-4. I still end up with 2-2, but this time I flipped 2 & 3. Gave the second round to Bivol and 3rd to Canelo. (I was wrong about the third being a clear Bivol round).

I scored the fight 119-109 for Bivol. I don't think Clenelo won more than 3 rounds. But we all know how the system works...if Clenbuterol can make a round relatively close it's his round. Glad that Bivol just beat him up for the majority of the fight so the judges couldn't fully rob him although they tried hard.

I'm relieved they ended that experience of announcing the official cards at certain points in the fight. Had the fighters known, Bivol might have fought out of character and Canelo likely would have coasted more.

Honestly for all 3 of them to do it yes it is. Bivol arguably won every round. I don't like to purely go off compubox but they said at one point that Bivol had landed more than 10 every round, Canelo hadn't done it in any round.

If that was a 9 round fight and you gave it to Canelo you'd be taking the mick mate.

I had Bivol taking 3 of the first 4, absolute corruption is the only way you give Canelo the first 4 rounds.
