Who beat Canelo more convincingly: Mayweather, Golovkin the first time around or Bivol?

That's just putting a spin on it. Last night he was too winded to apply pressure in the second half. He's come on late in a lot of fights including GGG 2.

Your commending Alvarez for his defence, but what about Bivol's defence ? How many clean punches can you count on one hand that Alvarez landed ? Bivol shut down Alvarez's offence completely, and landed many more clean effective punches. There isn't a single round where Alvarez outlanded Bivol.

Your saying you can't see Bivol winning very widely, but my question to you is. What did Alvarez do to make you think the fight was closer ? Alvarez hit arms and gloves all night, his offence was shut down completely. And Bivol landed almost twice as many punches as Alvarez.

The fight was never competitive at any point, Bivol clearly won most of the rounds.

can you point out where I discredited Bivol defense? Neither fighter landed much consistently Canelo landed the bigger shots in most rounds while bivol was more active.
Reason why I would point at Canelo’s defense would specifically be because of Bivols activity he was throwing more in combinations when he did fire off but a lot of those shots were missed just like the ones coming in return. A fight is 2-ways not just one and I find a lot of time ppl just look at 1 fighter, but that’s the thing with subjective sports personally I score fights based on the fight not the fighter.
I feel like because Canelo isn’t considered a defensive fighter mainly because he’s Mexican and not skill set that’s been displayed he rarely gets credit for defense. I just know when Floyd fought off the ropes or dodged 5/6 punches in a row he talked about his skill when Canelo does it we ignore it.
Realistically the majority of that fight was a competitive tactical fight that bivol had the gameplan to pull it out Canelo don’t need to be fighting 175 fighters anyway

    I had Mayweather - 117-111
    GGG 1 - 115-113
    GGG 2 - 116-112
    Bivol - 117-111.

Bivol beat Canelo up the most but had size and a weight advantage. Mayweather schooled him the most but did have him drained and green. Golovkin fought him at his best weight and possibly gave a bit of an age advantage.

All very impressive for different reasons but if you're purely talking about who did it more convincingly I'd say Bivol and Mayweather are tied.

The recency bias of this board is in full effect. I also see some arguments about this being the best version of Canelo, vs him being green against Floyd but there are a lot of things people are overlooking.

    1. Canelo vs Mayweather was at 152 lbs, so 2 lbs off the weight Canelo was actively fighting at, and 3lbs off "Canelo weight" (155 lbs)
    2. Canelo was only 23 that is true, but Floyd was close to 37 so how much longer could they have really waited?
    3. Floyd being near 37 was definitely not in his prime. Bivol at 31 is literally at the apex of his prime.
    4. So Canelo was "drained" at 152 but not bloated at 175? The majority of his career was between 154 and 160. Canelo is more skilled now than he was at 23, but the version of him at 175 is nowhere near Canelo at his best.

Taking all things into consideration, Floyd beat Canelo more convincingly. Canelo couldn't bully Bivol due to both Bivols skill and most definitely his size. Canelo couldn't bully Mayweather because Mayweather was too good.

I never said you discredited Bivol's defence, I said your giving Canelo credit for his defence. But yet Bivol was the one who had Canelo befuddled and confused with his own defence. Bivol was able to land clean effective punches in every round Canelo wasn't, so clearly Bivol's defence was more of a factor than Canelos defence was.

You still haven't gave much of a reason why you think the fight was closer, you've pointed out the defense argument and I've just gone over that. Your other claim is that Alvarez landed "Bigger punches" but yet that isn't true. Because there was hardly any clean hard punches Canelo landed, the only fighter who was consistently landing clean punches was Bivol.

Lastly yes it was a tactical fight, but it was a tactical fight dominated by Bivol based on defense, clean punching, ring generalship, the fight was kept at centre ring and Alvarez was never able to trap Bivol on the ropes.

Oh, I'm just full of surprises. :D

Not too much in this in terms of statistical dominance. Bivol and Mayweather both outlanded Alvarez by similar margins. So, it comes down to who won more rounds on my card, and how many clear rounds Canelo won against either man. Mayweather has a slight edge for me in either case, though Canelo didn't manage many rounds against either guy.

I don't hate anyone who picks Bivol...but that's my criteria for picking Mayweather in this case and I'm sticking to it.

Drainednelo was maybe Floyd's best ever performance. Or tied w/ Corrales. Floyd was blazing fast in the Clenelo fight and reflexes were otherworldly. Floyd may not have been prime, but he was not very far off the mark.
