Clenelo was shorter than Bivol, yes, but he was hulked out, faster, more explosive, and the bigger puncher.

Bivol won because he is a highly skilled technician, wasn't intimated, cool and calm as ice (announcers calling him a robot was as fitting a description can be), and he never deviated from the game plan regardless of how much success he had (Clenelo was buzzed on several occasions).

Clenelo is also RIDICULOUSLY strong. He was able to repeatedly push Bivol back and pin him against the ropes. It's impossible to do this and be the bigger puncher if you're too small for a weight class.

They were both the same weight and I wouldn't be shocked if Clenelo was actually the heavier fighter.

He obviously isn’t a 175 fighter, you’d have to be a complete idiot to think otherwise. The man legit lost 9 rounds because he’s a midget with short arms and couldn’t get close to Bivol to land anything significant and is slower than molasses.

He's not too small, he knocked Kovalev out.

But he wasn't the bigger, stronger, harder punching, or quicker man in there last night.

Size is not the problem, his skill and footwork is.

He wasn't faster or the bigger puncher last night.

He still looked strong but like I said before he's fallen in love with his power and simply loading up and trying to smash someone's arm to smithereens isn't going to work against top level opponents.

By the late middle rounds Bivol was starting to make him pay for his mistakes and he became a bit gun-shy

He’s not only too small for it, he’s too slow with hands and feet. The Kovalev win was a fluke. All the top guys at 175 wreck Canelo.

His reach is short and his footwork is not light enough, making that worse. That's his primary problem. Any good technician at 175 will pose problems for him. At the other end, waits brutal Beterbiev ready to show him what power at 175 is all about.

Bivol's defense was outstanding. Clenelo had Bivol pinned against the ropes or just shelling up waiting the attack through. The fight had nothing to do w/ distance.

Clenelo's punches were faster and heavier than Bivol's. Granted, Clenelo sat down on his shots while Bivol didn't. Clenelo's shots were loud and thudding. Bivol's, not so much.

Clenelo wasn't slow at all. His punches were fast as usual. And Clenelo's always been cement-footed. It's his fighting style to be be plodding, coming forward, and throwing explosive thudding shots.

Listen to the difference in sound between Clenelo and Bivol's shots. Clenelo's shots sound like shotgun blasts. Clenelo was definitely the bigger puncher and his punches came in faster.

Dude, did you not watch the fight last night? Who exactly are you trying to convince, random people or yourself? Canelo lost because he’s not a LHW, he was getting completely outboxed by a shot alcoholic in his fight vs Kovalev and legit lost 9 rounds to Bivol because he’s a 5’7 midget with T. rex arms. Just because you pump yourself full of roids doesn’t mean you belong in a weight class.

He's a natural SMW, a very thick-set and powerful one and don't forget he's deforming giant career SMW's biceps and caving in the eye sockets/cheekbones of fighters grotesquely with that power. Bivol is a small LHW in terms of weight and the weight difference between them would literally be a few pounds on the night.

People keep going on about him giving away huge physical advantages at 175, and whilst he's short he's built like a tank, as I keep saying, Loma is routinely giving away much bigger ones at 135.

    Clen comes about 180

    Bivol 180-184 max

Kovalev was coming in at about 180-182 at that stage of his career and only had a 2'' reach advantage over him

Loma is routinely giving away 7-12lbs or even as much as 15lbs or so against giants like Commey who come in at 153-154 and he's regularly giving away as much as 5.5'' in reach

Commey, Campbell, Nakatani, Teofimo, Pedraza and Linares are all much naturally bigger and heavier than him but Loma's not getting the same credit for daring to be great and giving away huge physical advantage and giving away 7-15lbs down at the lower weights is different to doing so at heavier ones and he has a tiny 65.5'' reach
