How is Clenelo too small for LHW? Did Bivol blow Clenelo away? Did Bivol walk Clenelo down and punish him against the ropes? Did Bivol power his way through Clenelo? Did Clenelo get bullied around the ring because the size and physicality of Bivol was too much?

That's what happens when someone is too small for a weight class.

Of course not. Pac took a beating against Margarito and said never above 147 again.

So why is Canelo an exception to the rule?

    There is no rule.

Pac weighed in for Margarito at 144 for a fight set at 150.

Clenelo weighed in at 174.5 for Kovalev and 174.4 for Bivol. Clenelo said that he wanted to fight at cruiserweight and 201 against Usyk. Pac ran his tiny ass back down to 147. Clenelo went back to 175 and was talking about going even higher.

While size did come into play here, I don’t think it was the deciding factor. I’d pick Alvarez to blow away certain 175ers.

Bivol was just 2 or 3 steps ahead all night. He could read what Canelo thought he was going to do, then did the opposite. Next level ****.

Just because Canelo came in at those weights for 2 of his 175 pound fights doesnt mean he belongs at that weight class to begin with. Look at Kell Brook against GGG. Are you going to tell me that the size desparity wasnt obvious? Did he belong at mw or was it a one and done just to see how well he matched up with GGG?

He’s just too small for the weight. He was gassing and didn’t look nearly as explosive as he did at 168. The Kovalev fight wasn’t a good performance and he only won that cause Kov was shot. Bivol’s power is only above average for the division and he was backing Canelo up and forcing him to shell up at times. Canelo doesn’t have the height, reach, and would probably be terrified to even throw against a prime LHW puncher.

It isn’t that big a deal though, there’s still good fights for him at 168

168 is Clenelo's best weight class, but that doesn't mean he's too small for 175. It's just simply means he won't be the man there, but he's top 5 at worst.

Just like Pac's best weight class was probably 140, but he stuck around at 147 for the money.

Another difference was that Pac was 149-150 on fight night whereas the welters aside from JMM were 160+.

What do you mean? Clenelo's shots were fast AND heavy. It's on video. You could barely hear Bivol's punches, but Clenelo's were like shotgun blasts.

He is though. Alvarez clearly looked smaller and I have never seen his punches look so powerless. He barely budged Bivol with the hardest shots he threw. As the fight went on Bivol took advantage of the disparity more, standing right in front of him and banging "Canelo" with punches that had more effect. That's on top of Alvarez's looking more winded, his feet appearing more heavy, his reaction to heavier shots more noticeable, and his general discouragement.

Not even. Its not a weight class where hed be effective in due to the guys at the top being much bigger than he is along with possessing good attributes as well. Canelo is too small for 175, just like Pac was too small for 154, De La Hoya was too small for 160, Jmm was too small for 147, ect. Theres weight classes for a reason.

I agree Canelo's punches were generally harder but he was throwing almost exclusively power shots.

Bivol's punches were affecting Canelo more.

Completely disagree about speed, Bivol seemed to have faster hands by far
