They are about even.

 

canelos biggest fights trout,lara,mayweather,gggX2, jacobs,kovalev,cotto, bivol. without biased scoring , canelo can easily be 1-8 against all those guys. kovalev lost because of age and outside the ring factors were too much to overcome. canelo is a good fighter but without help hes not great.

 

It would be fairer to make the comparison when Canelo retires

Sure...but this thread is about fun.

 

I like JMM better and he has the better ATG win, but Canelo. JMM really only has Pacquiao and a past it Barrera. Canelo has a much deeper resume and more championships.

 

I like Márquez better
But Canelos accomplishments are greater.

 

I agree that canelo has by far has the better resume and also disagree that people have to wait years make an assessment.

Canelo's already has way too many fights that if he retired right now there could be a discussion on how he did compared to his predecessors. We can make a reassessment if necessary after he retires but it is too much to ask for boxing fans to wait 5 years or more.

Also, I think that Erik Morales is the accomplished compared to Barrera and Marquez, but Marquez is still arguably the better boxer.

Also not saying he has the best resume but, Marquez didn't face any easy competition that is for sure:

Beat Mike Alvarado at the end of his career
Was Robbed in a hometown decision against Chris John
Was Robbed in a hometown decision agaisnt Freddie Norwood
Beat Medina
Faced Pacquiao in four competitive fights with the third fight having a questionable decision and won the fourth fight by KO at 39 years old while Pacquiao was 33 years old.
Beat Prime Barrera
Beat Casamayor who never lost by the way of knockout before.
Beat Salido
Beaten Diaz X2
Beaten Katsidis
Was dominated by Mayweather however he had to come up to two weight divisions above with Mayweather coming overweight.
Have lost to a Prime 30 year old Bradley competitively at 40 years old

 

This site is majorly anti-Canelo, always has been.

 

JMM. He fought all the top fighters of his generation without catch weights or corrupt judging.

Better resume almost definitely canelo...however it helps that he's the a side and it's alot easier to make fights when your the "money" in the sport.. Marquez was a major member of the who needs him club til he was into his 30s

Better boxer... Marquez...guy was an absolute pleasure to watch

Better win by either... Marquez....the win over Pacquiao is probably one of the greatest wins of all time.... Possiby the best ever victory by a Mexican fighter
