So let me preface by saying, I'm judging Canelo on p4p #1 standards. That's what they said. So I'm holding him to Roy Jones Jr., Pacquiao and Usyk standards. Well damn, if hes p4p #1 then hes on Pac and Usyk tier. Canelo has received many gift decisions in his career. But the two times hes fought a true elite fighter he was either schooled or beat the **** down. I'm just saying. I don't count GGG because he was obviously declined. Usyk ran through Gassiev, Briedis and AJ. Again I'm just saying. Canelo was schooled by a 36 year old skinny guy. And then beatdown by Dmitry Bivol. It's not like he lost those fights and came back to beat a HOFer in his prime. He was exposed twice very badly.
Another manufactured "star" bites the dust. Bivol had height and reach on Canelo, but not size. They are roughly the same size. Yet he embarassed him at his own clown circus show. The only way that could top this deserved embarrassment is him facing 40 yo GGG next and getting knocked out whilst mimicking a baby giraffe
He's a great fighter, but I never agreed wiry the people who thought he was a lock for P4P 1. Though I don't think there was any lock, so it wasn't unreasonable to place him there. I thought both Golovokin decisions were questionable, and his competition since then just hadn't been the best.
-robbed Lara -competitive with Trout, arguable loss -spanked by smaller 36yo -8-4d twice by 36 yo GGG -7-5 arguably 6-6 drained Jacobs. A Jacobs who then robbed basic Rosado. -feasted on come to lose opposition 168 +175 (for which if you don't agree with me in that I thought they were fixes - then the context around the fights explains why his opposition were not 100%) Canelo's resume /wins are all suspect, he's never been p4p material
Pound for pound is rubbish and even if it was real how can Alvarez ever be it? He never even conquer the 160 division middleweight. Golovkin was unfinished business & not prime young fighter even. It is no secret Alvarez hype was about American Hispanic and Mexican fans put up money to buy Ppv very loyal fans and Alvarez more exciting fighter to casual American than for example Crawford. Canelo Alvarez a good fighter and willing to go to ring 3 or 4 times every year. Good professional champion boxer. But hype of Canelo greatness is so they can push popular fighter into super star superfighter. Money not sheer ability.
It's hard not to have bought into the hype even knowing the reality of what Clenelo was/is. He did look invincible on account of his iron beard, not ever being hurt (except by GGG and Jose Cotto from like 3 decades ago) and crippling power shots. He just seemed like he could power through everyone.
Lol people seriously trying to slag Canelo when he's just attempted to beat a top dog at 175 whilst MANY fighters **** around protecting there records and ducking.
Absolutely ridiculous, top fighter takes a chance and goes against the elite current crop who are modernly ducking and diving every opportunity they get, then when they LOSE they are "exposed", "overrated", "bum". I can't imagine the reaction if Ali lost to Norton in this modern era
Exposed by moving up 4 weight classes from where he started to challenge a champion? Bwahahahajaja (belly laugh) ydksab.
Dude, Stop. Canelo and his team have massively cherrypicked his entire career. Eddie Hearn admitted that Canelos team chose Bivol based on his last two performances at 175lbs where people thought he looked bad. I've essentially proven that Canelo and Bivols fight night weight are very similar varying by 2-4lbs. Bivol is a 168lber fighting at 175lbs. Arguing otherwise is just being dishonest. Canelos fight night weight at 154lbs is on record as 174lbs. At 168lbs he'd being weighing high 170s if not 180. Canelo claims his fight night weight would be 180lbs fighting at 175lbs (Bivol stated his fight night weigjt was 183lbs). The fight night weight difference between Canelo at 168 and 175 would be minimal (id give a grounded estimate of 2-4lbsx, if anything at all). He just got schooled by fighter who came to win. The size difference was marginal
Fans like this terrible poster is why boxers dont take risks. Canelo moved up all the way to LHW to fight an undefeated champion and now he’s getting absolutely **** on by ******* fans. Tinman hates boxers who dare to be great.
His fans were saying that Bivol was the weakest champion, who can't punch and can be easily outpointed by Canelo.
But he loves Beterbiev who has been circling around other 175 pound champions like Bivol for years. Smh
