Would be stupid for Bivol to do this. He has no history fighting at 168. Draining from 175 to 168 ruined Chad Dawson, no need to repeat that experience. (I realize the situations are not fully analogous.)

It’s probably the best move for Bivol, he’s been talked about as a natural 168lb fighter. He can become undisputed there, at light heavy Beterbiev beats him down. Bivol should have a super middle run and go back up to light heavy when Beterbiev retires.
I’ve always felt that Bivol was overrated by boxing fans, and while I think his performance against Canelo was very impressive and shows I haven’t been giving him his due credit, the idea that it was a one sided domination by Bivol is just silliness. The judges were closer to getting it right than most boxing fans. I think it’s because people still pay attention to those imaginary compubox numbers. Bivol is far from a certainty in a rematch, and I give Bivol close to zero chance against Beterbiev. Bivol is a fantastic technician and he seems like a great guy, now I don’t really want to see Beterbiev beat him down.
We can see that guys like Jacobs and Plant had similar success against Canelo at times, they just weren’t as intelligent and consistent with it as Bivol was. Bivol never even took a clean punch. Bivol could do the same at super middle.

You’ve got this upside down. Bivol is going to want it at super middle, Canelo wants it at light heavy.

Canelo hasnt said anything. This is purely a fans perspective.

It’s a no-brainer for Bivol, why repeat at light heavy when he could get all four belts at super middle, when he’s always been seen as a 168lb fighter fighting at light heavy, when Beterbiev is active at light heavy?
I’m sure Bivol is smart enough to understand that he has nowhere near the amateur pedigree or strength of Beterbiev - a true light heavy who could bash and outmuscle most cruisers.

There’s no way Canelo wants it anywhere other than light heavy.
The hate on Canelo is unreal, how can anyone not understand at this point in time that he wants the toughest fights and the biggest achievements for legacy? Fighting Bivol at super middle does absolutely nothing for him win or lose. Canelo isn’t Floyd, boxing fans seem to be forgetting that. Canelo is a real fighter.

Yeah but Chad Dawson has the iq of a lemon and was getting dropped in sparring, and always had a weak chin/mind. That guy is almost the polar opposite of Bivol.
