How he was number 1, when he clearly lost to GGG twice??? And it wasnt close at all. 9-3 8-4 at best.
I think 1. Usyk 2. Inoue 3. Bivol A lot of people aren't going to give the credit to Bivol instantly, but he has just looked insane throughout his career, now he has dominated the consensus pound for pound #1.
Canelo moves down, Usyk takes the top spot clearly. Bivol probably enters the list. The rest pretty much stays the same.
Bud or Spance need to do something big like fight each other before I can crown either of them P4P #1. If Canelo beats Bivol in a rematch or has a good win at 168 before Bud and Spence fight each other P4P is should still be his. That said, some people will drop him for losing, while others would keep him #1 understanding who he was fighting and that it was at 175.
Nope. You lose, you are off the list entirely until you prove that it was an aberration and not a sign of things to come. (I also have problems naming him #1 by virtue of beating a bunch of trash-ass super-middleweights but that's neither here nor there as he was consensus #1).
A couple of good victories to build his case but belongs nowhere near the top 5 right now. Hell even the bottom 5 might be a stretch now that Bivol earned a spot in the top 10.
That's fair. With the loss, P4P is certainly in limbo until he fights again. Since it's a rating of how good you are "per pound" the recent version of Canelo is less good "per pround" at 175 than he was at 168. But he can pretty much re-establish himself as P4P #1 simply by returning to 168 and winning impressive. At 168, it's pretty clear he was the P4P #1, so all he really has to do is return to that weight. If Spence and Bud were smart, they'd fight each other ASAP to try and establish the winner as the P4P #1 before Canelo's next fight. But without them doing anything, it's hard to justify moving them ahead of Canelo with Canelo fighting such a great fighter like Bivol north of his weight class. And it's not like Canelo got dropped or KO'd or something. If Canelo got stopped or hurt badly by Bivol then it would be a different story. A close decision Loss to Bivol at 175 is a very respectable result regardless of how wide some fans think it was.
I respectfully disagree as both fights were close. And either way his run since the GGG has been historic. Unifying Middleweight, becoming a Light Heavyweight title holder and becoming undisputed champion and Super Middleweight.
