Holyfield-Tyson was scheduled for November 8, 1991. 3 weeks before that, Tyson pulled out. I found out during the broadcast for Mercer-Morrison.

Toney-Hopkins was scheduled in 2003, after Toney had beaten Jirov for the cruiserweight title. They had some press conferences. The fight got scraped.

Yea its a real bummer Quartey v Trinidad didn't happen. I think Trinidad would of won but Ike would of been a very small underdog

 

Duran vs Arguello ,

 

I always felt that Lewis had Bowe's number physically and mentally. Part because he beat him in the amateurs but in reality, having that big right. It would have landed and I think Bowe knew it. Lewis knew it also. I would say if you compare chins, Bowe might have had a slightly better chin, but Lennox was just a better fighter and his right was the equalizer.

 

Mayweather vs Pac did happen - but then again, it didn’t, at least not when it should’ve happened. Floyd’s accurate “timing” wasn’t just applied in the ring during the course of an actual fight.

 

Ironically with Bowe as compared to Lewis, he might’ve had the better chin at very best - but “very best” didn’t last too long - his chin seemed to get chipped away at and eroded relatively quickly. The Holy trilogy did him no favours.

 

Lennox had that right hand which kept fights a little more controlled for him in ways.. Mercer vs. Bowe would have been a good test.

In both cases contracts were signed but the financing fell through. The Coetzee fight was originally supposed to take place in South Africa with financiers from there IIRC, and there were repeated attempts to put it back together for Las Vegas but the money never came together.
