Conor Benn has just appeared on boxing life stories.

He says he didn’t know how good he could be. He just wanted to be the best he can be. His best he says is world level.

What is Conor’s best win and what world level fighters has he actually beaten?

Does he beat anyone in the current top 12 at welter from boxrec?

Given the depth at welter does he go above a WBA continental trinket?

he has 1 punch power, he can KO any of the top 10, he just has to be perfect for 2 seconds, the Deontay Wilder of the Welterweight division.

He has to believe he can go the whole way or he won’t. So of course he is going to and should say that he can reach world level. At this moment in time, I think if he keeps improving he can get to fringe world level over the next couple of years and become a contender, but I really can’t see him beating the likes of Ennis and Ortiz Jr. And no chance against Spence and Crawford

If he was a good fighter he should be better than almost anyone in the division with the opportunities he has been given.

The unfortunate truth is, he's just ok at boxing, living off his dad's name.

If he wasn't called Benn, he'd be driving a delivery van for ASDA, or fitting gas boilers or something, and nothing at all wrong with that. Same as Hatton Jr or Eubank Jr.

    Troll thread

Hes a young, rapidly improving, strong, exciting fighter. Obviously he hasn't really beaten anyone of note yet but he's been impressive lately. We'll see, but I think he has a chance at world level.

The highest ranked domestic fighter he's faced is Chris Truman, who had never even been in the top 50. Which was just after he'd lost to that French kickboxer but got gifted the decision. He has improved a lot since then but Eddie Hearn's claims that he's a global superstar and elite fighter are so ridiculous that it's genuinely infuriating. He's not either of those things, not by a long, long way.

At a push, he's probably about the same sort of level as someone like Anthony Fowler. But given his age and the Benn name, he hasn't had to test himself against any domestic rivals like Fowler did with Fitzgerald, and he certainly won't be getting fed to wolves by Hearn in the same way Fowler was with Smith. Hearn will try to keep the hype train going for as long as possible with cynical match making against the Algieri's and Van Heerden's of this world. As long as enough mugs buy into it to make it work, then Hearn will see it as a success.

Exactly. Kongo, McKinson, Essuman, Avanesyan etc, if Benn was the real deal, or at least half as good as Hearn claims he is, then after 6 years as a pro he would have already fought and beat all these kinds of opponents by now. He's a pure manufactured hype job and it's crazy how many people still can't see it.

He’s done better than expected and has a good team behind him. My only concern is he will run out of opponents to fight and avoid the top guns and probably move up a division instead of going in with the likes of porter

His improved from all most doing the splites in the ring when throwing a punch in the rematch with the France guy hearns done good putting him in with shot/shop worn fighters and after every fight he goes on a rant wanting to fight the world then fights the same type of fighters lol any real boxing fan can see what he is nothing but an average fighter that's improved but that's it his at his level

I think you are on the wind up but on the off chance that you're not then I can categorically tell you he doesn't. His power has developed like the rest of his in ring game. But he massively loads up on his punches and he's been ironing out massively compromised has beens or never beens. The van heerden fight actually showed up how limited he was in that first round- lack of fundamentals, falling over himself and getting caught.

One thing for sure is that when you move through the levels the opponents chins and resilience improve. When he actually has to box for more than 4 rounds we will see how he holds up. I think these recent wins have been good for his profile but not for his readiness for any type of real match up.

I think Connor Benn is Wolrd level fighter but it's the WW divison, the toughest divison in boxing at present full of quality boxers.

I would back the following guys against Benn at present:

    - Bud
    - Spence
    - D.Garcia
    - Thurman
    - Ortiz
    - Ennis
    - Ugas
    - Kavaliauskas
    - Stanionis

Granted Spence is moving up and Bud is no spring chicken so there could be vacant title shots available next year.

I would favour Benn against Avanesyan, Hooker and Crowley. I think Benn could cause an upset against Ramirez which is his rumoured opponent.
