Yup, Bivol is a pure boxer who is not very explosive. Several great boxers have fit that mold. Plus CA wasn't exactly opening up either and taking risks in the later rounds which could have resulted in a ko. Think both their styles together would result in a 12 round fight more often than not.

I don`t Canelo`s defense is that good, I think his high guard helped him a bit though.

Well it wasn't that good last weekend Mark. I mean his defence is usually solid but hardly Mayweather level. He does get hit a reasonable amount he's fortunate that he has a good chin on him.

It was inconsistent. At times, particualrly early in the fight, it was very good. But in the 2nd half of the fight, not so much. I think that had a lot to do with fatigue.

That’s what happens when you don’t cycle clen correctly as you move up in weight. T3/t4 was all out of whack.

Surely the butcher would have been on to it this time around. Maybe they cut out the anavar with the beef…

He was on a vegan diet. He has to get back on that carne asada.

I agree with you. I've mentioned several times that there's always limits to what a human frame can take without compromising speed and endurance. It''s not like Canelo doesn't train hard but it's that in order to move up divisions he's had to take more gear to put weight on his short 5ft 8inch frame. I just think 175lbs is too much for someone that short. I mean it's short for a modern Middle nevermind going up another two divisions. I still think 154/160 is the best weight. Some will counter with 168 but Canelo did not fight anyone near elite at that weight so to me he's untested there.

Loving the desperation of the Canelo fans to give him a moral victory. The guy got bitched. Period

I accept that going vegan isn't really good for power. I however doubt that he's stopped taking gear after going to 160 and fighting GGG.
I've seen many videos and pictures since showing clear needle marks on his body.

I can agree with you on this. The issue for me is lack of speed and footwork at the weight. With Bivol having good movement and not getting dragged into a dogfight he was able to slip in and out of range without risking getting hurt. Canelo looked slow and ponderous and not his usual self but that''s down to Bivol being a bad stylistic matchup at this weight.

Bivol could have stepped on it in the later rounds, he had enough in the tank to do so. But this was his first fight on this level, he stuck to the gameplan and brought his win home. It could be interesting for the rematch, will he push harder later in the fight?

When he gets tired he tends to start pulling back from shots but Bivol was too quick and followed through with straight shots whenever he did this movement.
