100% apps will be the normal, doesn't necessarily mean DAZN will be the go to app. People like established brands and names with content. ESPN in the US is a great example. Its all a bit of a war at the moment though. The futures is definitely apps.
Firstly Hearn is talking about not only TV exposure but also fighting on shows outside the UK. Secondly I still don't see why this deal for Boxxer means trouble for specifically matchroom? In what way does it effect Hearn that it doesn't effect the Warren for example?
And there it is. Why didn't you just start with that? Waaaaah you said Hearn and not Warren waaaah. Maybe he said Hearn because matchroom are bigger than Queensbury? Or Matchroom are the only ones solely on an app and BT, where Queensburys have just signed a new deal, have a massive new venture?
Nope I simply named the other major promoter in UK boxing. I reiterate the question. How does this deal effect Matchroom or anyone else for that matter negatively? The deal can be good for Boxxer and celebrated as such without somehow trying to paint it as meaning trouble for the competition.
To be fair, the Matchroom show live on DAZN from Italy tonight is not mentioned on this forum which is a clear sign that there is no interest at all even from diehard UK boxing fans. The fight on channel 5 is the card people are focussed on. There is no doubt that Matchroom cards are in serious decline in terms of public awareness.
Matchroom have about 40 shows a year, way more than the rest of the UK promoters, probably more than Wasserman, Boxxer and Queensberry combined. Matchroom have delivered top quality consistent shows in the US. The UK cards have declined over recent years but are still better than the other stables (for now at least).
How does a Matchroom card in Italy for the DAZN Italy subscriber base show a decline in Matchrooms overall UK business. clutching much. just heard Johnny nelson mention that DAZN are struggling for viewers when no one mentioned to him that Taylor vs Serrano was watched by more people than any fight that’s been on Sky all year. can’t say it’s struggling it’s just a different metric and system. Ones a global platform the others arent
They are better shows than any of the uk. i wouldn't say combined. wasserman first show was quite good to watch, boxxer has had at least one decent fight on each show, warren is the weak so far but still have had some fun fights this year. Matchroom is still the best. One thing i will say i do think boxxer first year with sky looks better than first year matchrooms revival with sky
Been a loyal DAZN UK subscriber since the start but I have unsubscribed today as only interested in the UK based cards. The UK based cards have been far too infrequent and of increasingly declining quality that I can no longer justify being a subscriber. Was expecting the big Joshua fights etc for the £7.99 per month yet no sign of huge UK based fights on this app so I am out.
Assuming you work for DAZN, what were the UK and Global viewing figures for the Italian Card last night?
This content is protected Yoka Takam is headlining. I’m looking forward to seeing this one on Sky Sports. Takam gave Makhmudov a good fight previously.
I thought he would be on the Okolie card since it's looking pretty weak but makes sense. Good to see Boxxer following Matchroom's steps in expanding worldwide.
