The networks complained he was too boring to get big fights or sell.
So in an effort to appease and land big fights he started sitting down alot more and trading punches.
That and he got lazy when he became champion.

That could be, but when he started getting tagged by guys like Roldan or Barkley it is time to use his skills. The way he bet Tate was impressive. he was in and out and landed punches on the move. Then Roldan tagged him and he won, but I remember him getting tagged more than he should of, but I just attributed that to the same Roldan who hit Hearns also and that style of kamikaze. So Nunn got the knockout of Kalambay which no one expected after the struggle with Roldan and had Barkley, which was another 12 round struggle and he never seemed to be the same. That was that.. I don't get it. he was not hit so hard he would diminish..

Staying around his hometown wasn't very helpful. This hypothetical matchup isn't easy to predict like some might think. Like you pointed out, you never know which Nunn would show up. McCallum was always consistent.

OMG! Barkley landed far more shots than Canelo what are you talking about? Canelo landed hardly any shots.

Nobody scored Bivol v Canelo a draw, lol love to see your scorecard for Nunn v Barkley, nobody gave Nunn praise for his performance the way they praised Bivol v Canelo.

As much as I liked McCallum and had great respect for him as a fighter, I think Nunn wins a decision. I think he would be a frustrating fight for Mike. I think Nunn gets forgotten amongst the middleweight champions and would have given a lot of them from the past a very tough time. I thought at the time, (and still think), that had James Toney fought a rematch with Nunn back in '91, it would have been a very risky fight.

Nunn via WUD12. He dances, circles, jabs & throws speedy, flashy combinations all night, which gives McCallum fits and doesn't allow him to get set.

However, the fight could be ALOT closer if Nunn decides to be macho & stay in the pocket (like he did sometimes). He could even end up losing like he did against Toney - as McCallum had a similar style to Toney (IMO). It's Nunn's fight to lose, but if he fights correctly he should win comfortably.

I’m going against the grain here and picking McCallum. Nunn does have advantages and he could stink the place out with a defense-first approach. We know McCallum had his problems with Kalambay and if Nunn uses his natural advantages in height and reach well, then he would and should probably win.

But… I don’t know. I know which McCallum would turn up, I just don’t know which Nunn would turn up and that just gives me the feeling Mike could take this. Nothing more than a hunch, but that’s the way I’m going.
