People call for these fights because if you're the real deal then these are kind of opponents you face (and beat) on your way to world level. So the fact that after 6 years as a pro, Benn has been steered well clear of any of these types of domestic gut checks tells you all you need to know. Knocking over washed up has been might pull the wool over some people's eyes, but plenty can still see through it.

Until he fights a live opponent it's hard to judge how good he is

He gets smashed to bits the first time he fights someone in their prime who isn’t utter garbage

I give him credit for pursuing a career in a tough sport when he didn’t have to and he’s undoubtedly improved. Lbh how many of us thought he would even beat shot former world champions? Cos I didn’t tbh. But on the flip side it must be nice to peruse a career in boxing knowing if he fails it doesn’t really matter. He’s still going to be rich isn’t he? And he’s had access to the best facilities etc so he’s bound to improve.

Also let’s not pretend it’s Eddies fault. If Benn wanted to fight a live wire he’d make Hearn make the fight.

The lad is far too rash.. He comes lunging in and he's all over the shop. He's improved for sure, but there's only so much you can teach a fighter. If the talent is not there then you can still go pretty far by working extremely hard.

He doesn't have the talent but he puts the work in. Wilder became the heavyweight champion by doing just that.

It's a smoke and mirrors job.

Sure he has had a couple of quick blowout wins against old or past it opposition, they were carefully picked, ripe for the taking and fair play he took them.

I asked you all this, tell me one fighter he has faced that can remotely punch? They are steering him away from anybody who can dig for a reason.

Hearn has no choice but to try and hype him, what else has he got in the stable coming through? No names, no genuine hardcore talent.

Hearn has a DAZN deal that looks shakier by the month, AJ loses again and it's curtains, things are that bad Hearn was even trying to talk up Katie Taylor Vs Cris Cyborg FFS.

I think the hype machine behind him is ridiculous - he’s almost certainly going to be found wanting when he boxes someone in their prime who is genuinely world class. Formella was a good win, he was solid European level, but his style was perfect for Benn - someone who is slow, methodically and basically clams up when you attack him. He just let Benn throw shots at him all night with no real ambition of countering, and he’d done the same against Porter who again was just able to swarm him. Benn was similar against Granados, who showed some flaws in Benn as he managed to catch him regularly, but didn’t have the energy / motivation to really stick it on Connor.

Looking at the top 10 at WW, there’s not one I’d pick Benn to beat. I’d imagine they’ll stick him in with Joseito Lopez next, who is rugged and mixed it at world level but now slightly past his best and likely too slow to catch Benn with a good enough counter.

He's like one of those toys they used to advertise on the TV near Christmas. Polished, lots of fun and utterly brilliant but when you take it out of the box it's poorly made and ends up completely ****ed when you are a bit too rough with it.

Latest IFL interview saying he wouldn’t fight McKinson because of his style and because he’s all about ‘value for money’

That new interview is mad, keeps saying he's not worried about other people and only focusing on himself while simultaneously offering his two cents on all the other people in his division.

He is such a wally. Going on about his cars, his mansions, his this and that. Forgets to add its all off his old man

He is incredibly unlikeable. I can't wait for him to get stopped
