How would you feel if McGregor vs Chandler was made for the winner of Islam vs Oliveira? It makes sense but I dont see Dana ever risking Makahchev vs McGregor being made.
I don't think Makhachev vs. McGregor is a targeted matchup by the UFC. Doesn't make any sense to me. Boring matchup. The UFC wants Chandler vs. McGregor i think.
I'm all for Chandler and McGregor, but I'd rather see the winner (Chandler) fight Dustin Poirier instead. Preferably, the winner of Oliveira vs. Makhachev would fight Beneil Dariush just to get him out of the way.
Like he beat the crap out of Tony? You're a MMA casual if you think Chandler will beat the crap out of McGregor. Chandler has no leg kicks. He has to wrestle. On the feet McGregor will box him up.
I don't think he necessarily beats him if Chandler makes it out of the first round but on the feet i favor Conor - while being fresh - pretty much all day long. We all saw Chandler isn't as great as people think on the feet. Gaethje boxed him up who is a slow and stiff brawler. Tony also boxed him up easily with his range and awkward stuff. You really think one of the best strikers in MMAs history won't be able to do that? If Chandler wants to win he has to wrestle. In a pure standup fight i think Conor beats him more often than not. We all know Chandlers ego is big so he'll most likely stand and trade with Conor which i think would end in a Conor KO early on. Saying Conor has no chance against Chandler or Chandler is going to destroy him is just a casual narrative imo of Chandler being a great and entertaining fighter while Conor is shot and a quitter.
I don't see Conor beating anyone top level these days. Yes Chandler gets himself into firefights on the feet but the guy is a great competitor and as you said in your last sentence, Conor is a massive quitter when he tires and things don't go his way. I think in an entertaining first rd Chandler would pound his head through the canvas ground n pound. I would even slightly favour Nate DIVA Diaz to beat Conor if they fought and he's garbage also imo.The problem for Conor and the UFC is who can they match him up with to win a fight other than washed up names like Cerrone or journeymen. He has to fight a good fighter/good name but I don't think he has it in him to win.
ya bro i don't know...i'm not as high on chandler as you are. I think he's a great athlete and definitely a better competitor than conor at this point but he's a bit chinny, he's reckless and his skillset is extremely limited (wrestling + brawling). if he wrestles he'll probably win easily but when did chandler really wrestle from the first second? he usually wrestles when he's in trouble. i think he's a great matchup for conor on the feet. i can't pick conor in a fire fight these days but i wouldn't be shocked if he sleeps chandler with a straight left.
Chandler would give McGregor a tough fight at this point. Conor has 1 win in the last 5 years and that was against Cerrone who he clocked in 40 seconds. Conor looked far from great in the last two fights against Dustin. I think it's a pickem fight at this point while it lasts and Chandler is always game.
Between McGregor vs Chandler. I always support Chandler. He gives so much tough time to him. He is good in many ways. Between Makahchev vs Oliviera. Oliviera is truly good.
