I don't know if he just didn't respect Lemieux but all he was thinking about was getting him out of there. I was there last night, he's a live dog but he's purely offensive. Relying only on his size, speed and power. This almost totally lack of defense will catch up to him.

I always said his defense is just slightly below average now he will use his feet to avoid danger at times. His downfall with Canelo will be the fact he is going to get hit harder than he ever has been hit. Would love to see them fight. I think David can hang with Canelo through the Championship rounds maybe just not the final round

He isn't great defensively but is better than he showed last night. He purposefully allowed Lemieux to land a few partial connects in order to get David to open up. DB obviously didn't respect Lemieux's power and was determined to get him out of there early.
Benavidez has solid defense + he is very good on counters. He is just highly offensive type of boxer.
Yea, when you're primarily an aggressive fighter you're gonna be more available to be hit. Overall, his defense is decent but against a great counter puncher, it could be a problem.
Defense isn’t just slipping and staying out of range. Blocks and parrying is also defense. Not saying Benavidez is a master at defense but I’ve seen much worse.
