Tbh the only thing I like about this is that I get to watch the replay on the sky sports YouTube channel. I mean what’s the point honestly like I’m never gonna watch any of those midnight fights so I don’t understand why sky did this deal.
I’m not moaning I’m just saying that I think sky have wasted a bunch of money just so they can post top rank highlights on YouTube. Like who’s staying up for these 3 a.m fights?
Doubt sky are paying a lot. Means they can do shows with top rank signed UK fighters though (Tyson not included) The old footage channel filler with classic fights is good.
They'll be paying next to nothing for it. They don't even cover the fights themselves ie. sending a commentary team or pundits out, they just play the American broadcast.
Im sure Adam Smith knows what he is doing and has paid peanuts Top Rank probably happy to do so to dig knife in to DAZN/Hearn And in today's world id imagine boxing fans would record it no? And its good filler content afterwards They still showing Top Rank stuff at 9pm some nights
Sound like my misses. Moans about something then tells me she's not moaning. Just because you ain't going to watch something don't mean others aren't.
It is very expensive to be "on site". Having said that, I'm been disappointed that Sky Sports does not use their own boxing commentators on Top Rank Boxing events. They host some excellent boxing matches that deserve better wrapping.
I don't think they thought Hearn would end their relationship, when he did they felt they needed to act fast to get some boxing into their offering. The Top Rank deal enabled Sky to claim the TR roster as their own and thus hopefully limit any loss of subscribers until they could get their new promoter up and running. I think viewed in that context it was a smart move, especially if, as suggested above, TR gave them a decent deal in order to spike Eddie's guns. I like it, TR have some good fighters and I'm happy to record the shows and watch in the morning. I don't mind the US commentary either, better that than Smith and Macklin sat in an edit suite in London voicing over the action.
need as many fights on telly as possible from elsewhere considering the complete dearth of good fights coming up in the UK over the next 3/4 months
So you have never heard of Sky Q or Sky+ It's not like anyone needs to watch the fight live. The money sky are paying for top rank deal will be not the huge bunch of money you seem to think it is.
