Just noticed Mateo Tapia got booted out of the WBA's 168 rankings last month. I think he was #12 or possibly even #11. So he wasn't just scraping in. I understand you can't stay inactive forever and expect to stay ranked. But it seems a bit loco that he still held the WBA regional strap that gave him that ranking when they decided to demote him. And even defended it this month. If he was a cruiserweight or a minimumweight he would probably still have his ranking. But 168 is pretty hot at the moment so they obviously saw fit to remove him. He is just a young pup, this won't mean much in the long run. I'll be interested to see if they find room to put him back in the 15 seeing he is active again and defended a WBA affiliated regional title.
Haney’s team have been ringing around looking for sparring partners. You’d think this would be sorted by now.
* Was watching Sun Night Ch 7 Spotlight program and the next week promo showed the feature story is a one hr episode on Kambosos Jr. It will be on May 29 at 9 pm. This is prime time and is a high rating program and great mainstream exposure for Aust Boxing and GK.
you should know how difficult it can be to pin down sparring partners and how quickly circumstances can change which make it hard. could be visa issues again?
A professional team would have that sorted well in advance, like Kambosos has. It’s not like Haney hasn’t got the money behind him to bring people over.
Huni v Goodall card is shaping up well… Mikhailovich v Ernesto Espana Aokuso v Charalampous Luke Boyd v Shamal Ram Anuj Jack Gipp v Francis Waitai Hone Huni, cousin of Justis makes his debut. Taylah Robertson and Toese Vousiutu as well.
u r pot shotting them but you've made hundreds of comments excusing fighters for having all sorts of problems pinning down opponents and having problems getting fights made. heaps of boxers pull out of million dollar paydays or refuse fights so i'm sure it must be worse trying to organise sparring partners. and its obviously easier for the local to organise.
Devin Haney is a multi millionaire who’s been to the VERY pointy end of the sport. His sparring should be well and truly sorted… much like Kambosos, who has brought over Americans / Puerto Ricans as well as locals. I’ll leave it with you.
if fighters pull out of or reject million dollar paydays i'm sure you can expect sparring partners to drop like flies easily enough. u r happy to make excuses when it comes to your circle though. give him midnites number, it would be good to see him get smacked around a bit, lol. anyway hopefully haney's underdone and goes home without a belt to hold his strides up with.
Point out my excuses. By Christ you dribble some amount of shite. Haney’s team (of which he’s ultimately the boss) have absolutely let him down if they’re calling about looking for sparring fortnight before the fight for the undisputed title. Surely your sparring is locked in well in advance. If you need local boxers, it’s organised IN ADVANCE. I genuinely do not understand why this is even an issue with you to comprehend but every day is a school day I guess.
