So how did Bowe do against Golota??? or Tubbs or Tyrell Biggs or Pinklan Thomas Tyson did considereably better against all of these, but you choose to cherry pick 1 instance and ignore others so it can fit into your already pre- concieved result Classic Bowe apologist behaviour!
Exactly. Bowe has to be inside to be effective & it's the opposite of conventional wisdom. But look closely at Bowe on the outside. He didn't throw a straight right hand. It was a wide looping arc that often missed and went behind a guy's head. Really more of a wide right hook. When Bowe punched from the outside, he'd bring those hands back low. He's right there to be countered. He threw a lot of lead right hands and can definately be beaten to the punch by this opponent. If so, Tyson is going to land a clean shot and his followups is where he really did the damage. Bowe didn't punch and move like Douglas did. Bowe punched and stood there. Waiting for the receipt and looking to land some more. But he's at 12:00. Early Tyson was quick on his feet and punched while moving in. Bowe has to have his feet set to do anything. I don't see anything bowe can do to deal with that quick speed Tyson employed closing the gap after he bobbed and weaved and moved in on opponents. Some footwork capability by Bowe and just moving to 11 or 1 o'clock would help a ton, but he didn't do that and moved his legs at brontosaurus speed. Very very bad habit against this type of opponent. Everyone likes the Bowe right uppercut from the inside but it's very dangerous against this guy. Wide open for a left hook over the top and Tyson has much the faster hands. Tyson could/would land a sharp left hook and at least 1 or 2 follow up shots while Bowe is re-setting those hands after throwing an uppercut. Awful big window on the inside to give to a guy like Tyson. And on the outside, that's another big window throwing a wide looping right hand lead. Even Bowe's jab got countered. Guys that beat Tyson just don't leave windows & you don't leave windows facing the finishers.
Tyson aged 23 or 24? So we are talking about a post-rooney (so not prime style or skills) Tyson from either the Williams, Douglas, Tillman, Stewart or either of the Ruddock fights. I say most likely Tyson wins by stoppage. However if it's the highly under-conditioned Tyson from the Douglas fight, then Bowe's chance do indeed rise, with Mike's best chance in that case being if he gave everything he's got in the begining 3/4 rounds.

Bowe is a nobody. Even the worst quality Tyson would take apart prime Bowe (whatever "prime" means for Bowe). Bowe was always blessed with talent but he was a lazy SOB in the gym and mentally fragile.
Bowe had a lot of respect for Tyson (he dedicated his first fight against Holyfield to him) and I think he would fight Tyson instead of play defense. It's really not an insult to Bowe, as there would be an incredible amount of fireworks, but at some point Tyson would find his mark. Tyson feeds off of looking impressive, and he would no doubt find holes against Bowe, and his confidence would soar.

There was some strong talk about Bowe fighting Tyson at some stage. Bowe's exact words (well from a newspaper article i remember) were that he had no interest in fighting Tyson because they were both from the same streets and they were friends. Personally, i think that Tyson had it over him mentally, even though Bowe had the tools to beat Tyson or at least make life difficult. I think that Bowe would be ko d by Tyson.
C'mon that is in(s)ane man. There was another thread recently about how many very good fighters (who met all of your criteria) were *not* scared of Tyson & still lost to him. The key to your extreme bias is you throwing in domestic violence. Sure condemn vicious conduct; but it has nothing to do with how good a fighter anyone is. You just hate Tyson & will pick against him if it is remotely plausible.
Even 1987 Mike would have issues with Bowe not being particularly intimidated. But Bowe got hit way too much, Tyson w a close but sure UD.
There is absolutely no doubt that most experts consider Tyson the best he would ever be when he destroyed everyone in the division during the late 1970's. He was at the height of his physical prowess, and, sadly, would never be that dominant again.
I suggest Rummy make another episode of “dream fight”. Riddick Bowe 1992 vs Mike Tyson 1988, IMHO Mike Tyson wins (tall boxers underestimate lower, and that would be a fatal mistake in the case of Mike Tyson 1988).
