I don't know ,,,Zarate is 5'10 Inoue is 5'5 Zarate has a 72 inch reach Inoue has 67, He'd have to pay a BIG price to get to Zarate
Zarate was real good, I am not as high on him as many are, but I still rate him highly…just not as highly as many do. Zarate had good skills that sometimes get overlooked due to his power, which was top notch in its own right. Good defensive skills that again get lost in light of his power. I can see why many would pick him. I can’t say it is a foolish pick because it’s not. I just see Inoue as better and and more skilled. I don’t want to bash Zarate nor will I, but I do think Inoue would beat him…I also think Jeff Chandler would beat him too but that is another thread lol
I'd take Zarate. He'd make Inoue gun-shy and control the action at range IMO. I wouldn't rule Inoue out though as he hits really ****in hard and has a great chin.
Out of interest, for what reasons do you think Inoue is more skilled? IMO, Inoue is quicker and tougher but not more skilled.
This is a great matchup! As @Reinhardt mentioned, Zarate is a naturally bigger man. He knocked out 51 of his first 52 opponents and as much as he was a slugger he also had good boxing skills. What makes this fight so intriguing is that the same could be said for Inoue. What has impressed me most about Inoue is not the great knockout wins and devastating body punching. The most impressive fact for me is how well he handled the power of the still very good Nonito Donaire. Donaire has stopped a lot of top notch featherweights and really laid it on Monster. Inoue was able to take the punishment and take the win. Zarate struggled with the power of bigger men, albeit all-time greats. While they both have good boxing technique they also throw (threw) a lot of power shots. Eventually, this comes down to who can take who's punch and I give Inoue the advantage based on his slightly better chin.
Very possible, but who knows? With a few more fights maybe we’d say it looks like Gomez-Zárate, but we’ll see. I think Zárate would be a clear cut favorite over most bantams. IMO he never lost there.
