He's Kazakh Thunder.... so no, he's not officially Russian. Although his father is, and his mother is Korean. That being said, even if he was, all of that is irrelevant where GGG is concerned, he transcends global politics. Unfortunately, that's never quite enough to transcend boxing corruption.

But Marquez didn't devastate Pac . Pac was taking over the fight but got careless & got caught by a hail Mary & knocked cold. Funny Marquez refused point blank to a rematch after all Pac gave him FOUR chances. Marquez knew he couldn't get lucky twice

He's half Russian, half Korean and was born in the ex-Soviet colony of Kazakhstan. So he's not an ethnic Kazakh either. It's a perfect example of how modern nationalities make no sense and have simply become passports. This has likely also impacted his fanbase or 'market' since he does not belong to a specific population, to the point where they tried to sell him to the Mexicans, which was surreal.

I think Golovkin has a decent chance of stopping Canelo if he goes for it, even if he doesn't. Because Canelo is a little slower now too, no doubt. Golovkin never relied on speed, but Canelo does for defence and counters. So Canelo being heavier now could help Golovkin. Also Canelo is coming off a loss, so might have lost a little confidence, who knows.

The first three fights Marquez did'nt emphasize power in his training for those fights, the gamplan in those fights were to school Pacquiao boxistically which Marquez did.
The plan for fight 4 for Marquez was to prevent a 4th robbery, thus the change to load up on his shots.

Pacquiao had'nt tasted Marquez power when he's loading up for shots, Canelo allready has tasted Golovkin's full power so the chances of Canelo being suprised by Golovkin's power is pretty much zero.

The way I see it if anyone is getting knocked out its Golovkin getting blown away, I dont think he's tasted the full brunt of Canelo's power and if Canelo elects to push it to the limit its Golovkin who may end up face first on the canvas.
