Canelo Alvarez: I'm Still The Best In The World, No Other Fighter Takes Risks Like I Do

Just because Lomachenko has freakishly short reach for 5’7 doesn’t mean he’s much smaller than those guys. I’m not sure Lomachenko has fought a person with shorter reach than him except the very short Gary Russell. Juan Francisco Estrada, and Carlos Cuadras at 115 & 5’4, 5’3 respectively, purportedly have longer reach than Lomachenko.

It’s definitely a physical disadvantage to be overcome. But is he much smaller? I’d say Lomachenko is 1 weightclass over his optimum weight at 135lbs. I’d say Canelo is 2 weightclasses over his optimum weight at 175.

Its not just reach.. Loma probably hovers around 141lbs between fights.. whereas the majority of lightweights and super featherweights like Haney & Stevenson etc hydrate near 10lbs over night let alone their walk around weight which will be another 10lbs probably.. Davis, Lopez, Haney and Stevenson are much younger than Loma yet they have still struggled to make weight already numerous times.. that says a lot.. these guys already look like ****ing welterweights most of them, go look at images of them standing next to the likes of Crawford and Canelo.. even in 2020 Teofimo Lopez was 160lbs.. and still looked in fighting shape.. look it up.. truth of the matter is I bet he's closer to 170 most of the time… Just let that sink in for a minute considering the weight he fights at!

I repeat this is nonsense, canelo fought his first championship fight in his fight number 35 (vacant wbc vs mathew hatton), and loma in his fight number 2 ( wbo vs salido. You dont do that unless you have a godfather, btw, no matter your amateur pedigree). Canelo fought his first championship fight in 2011, and loma in 2014. Canelo was 21 y.o. and loma was 26

loma has fought 11 champions in 18-1=17 fights = 11/17 = 61%

Canelo has fought 19 champions since 2011. 19 champions in 11 years. 19/11 = 1.71 champions per year

You cannot elect to fight in a division then start complaining. Floyd Mayweather a featherweight/ Lightweight was not complaining when he fought and beat naturally bigger men at 147 and 154 pounds. Complaints and excuses are just that or daring to be great. Everyone gets credit for stepping into the ring but complaining about size, reach etc is BS. If you feel you are disadvantaged in a certain weight class then don’t fight there otherwise if you do no excuses are allowed. I don’t remember Pacquiao making excuses about moving up several weight divisions.
